So...

Is it a finely poised match at the moment?

India 142/4

England 298/10

I think it's fair to say that England were really caught out by the amazingly quick restart. :p

I was very pleased with the bowlers though, Alan Donald seems to have been an inspired choice as a bowling coach and has made a remarkable difference to them all in a really short space of time.

England will hopefully bowl the Indian's out today, and then bat all of tomorrow to put a decent target on the board. Then I can go to Lord's on Monday and watch the finish. :p

I can't watch it :(

Bar the highlights on the Beeb....and I've missed them all so far.

so its 170/5 now...

Strauss did well though...as did Vaughan ....just from the scores...no idea how well they actually played...

Not so finely poised now...wait, this is still England, actually.

India all out for 201, and it's pretty much lunch. We bat to the end of tomorrow, then bowl India out on Monday. Sorted.

They were just trying to emulate England but went a bit early - England went from 218-1 to 298-10.

This might just be an interesting game. Assuming you bat to a 300-350 lead, we should be well set to bowl them out in a day and a session or so.

Ideally, England will want to bat all of tomorrow and then declare with a few overs left in the evening. Given the tendency for collapse, though, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't last that long.

As long as they get another 100-150 on the board, they should be safe, and it will be a question of whether India can hold out for the draw.

There's no point forcing India to hold out for a draw; unless Dravid is removed early, he will simply block all day, as will Jaffer, Sachin and Ganguly.

England need a lead of 350 to 400, and to give India 4 sessions or so to get it.

Well, if the Indian's feel the target is obtainable they are more likely to make silly mistakes, but, at the same time, there is the risk that they will actually obtain it. I think England will make sure they have a untouchable lead, and then hope the bowlers can dig out wickets from a defensive wall. That's certainly been their strategy in their recent Tests.

I'd say a draw is the most likely outcome, with an England win a close second.

Well that's a particularly appalling collapse, but a good bowling comeback. I predict a rainy draw.
