Cindy Sheehan attacks Charlotte Police Dept.

You know, at this point I am simply amazed that anyone listens to her anymore, it's one thing to protest the war because you think it's wrong and unjust, but to start calling political group that has the opposite view of yours as "Neo-Nazi" and "facist". Now Cindy made this huge blog about her tour of the South, the "Give Peace a Chance" tour, and I'm not going to include all of it, just the one that pertains to Charlotte.
At the School of the Assassins in Columbus, GA.
Already we can see where this is going. Yea, referring to a military school as the "School of the Assassins", yea great job getting people to take you seriously there Ms. Sheehan. I wonder how your son would feel about you calling him an assassin.
and in Charlotte, NC, we ran into similar problems: police presence that seemed to be there to foster violence At both places the neo-Nazi, pro-war fascist group "Gathering of Eagles" came out to mostly try to intimidate us from our mission.
Actually, I've looked at the "Gathering of Eagles" website, and I look at every page of the website, but the damnest thing is, I never saw anything that suggested that the "Gathering of Eagles" was a Neo-Nazi group or a Fascist group. They actually seem to be a group of Veterans. Strike two Ms. Sheehan. Oh, for those who are wondering about the Gathering of Eagles, you can look at their website here. (http://gatheringofeagles.org/)
At Ft. Benning, after we complained, the police kept them separate from us, but in Charlotte, the police refused saying that the Eagles had their rights to "freedom of speech." But the Eagles' freedom of speech has included physical threats against me and actual physical force against kids and women.
Yea, I'll wait till the Chief of Police of the CMPD to comment on this, sorry Ms. Sheehan but you lost alot of credibility. Yes the CMPD can be crappy sometimes, yes they can do a better job, but I'm not going to believe this without evidence to back it up.
When the Charlotte police were told this, they said that they couldn't keep them apart from our group until the Eagles actually did something.
Seems reasonable, I can go up to someone, tell them that they are wrong, and that I believe that they are wrong, and as long as I don't pose a physical threat, there's not much the police can do.
So I chose to stay away from the rally then go and perhaps cause them to hurt someone else because of my presence. Freedom of speech is one thing, but I don't believe that the First Amendment protects violent speech
Well she got one thing right, the Freedom of Speech doesn't protect violent speech.
especially if it is one of the neocons or their media supporters calling for increased violence in the Middle East.
*sigh* Ms. Sheehan and his son must've not spend alot of time together before he died or else she would realize that a group of Veteran which she claims "threatens" her and a new military tactic are two completely separate things.
Nothing about our movement promotes or calls for violence and it would be swell if the CPD protected everyone's First Amendment rights, not just people whom they agree with.
Yea, umm, let's take a look at Gathering of Eagles website.
2. We are a non-violent, non-confrontational group. We look to defend, not attack. Our focus is guarding our memorials and their grounds.

Strike Three Ms. Sheehan and you are out of here. Now go sit in the corner.
Gold Star Father, Carlos Arredondo, joined us in Charlotte with his display about the personal cost of war which doesn't affect the "Gathering of Chickenhawks" at all, in fact we believe that they are the ones who disgrace our children's memories and the memories of the fallen in Vietnam by supporting another 'Nam like quagmire.
She just lost it at the end, a really good blog really just ties everything up at the end, but this with her talking to a Father about 'Nam, just ruins the whole thing.

I agree, though I'll say it more nicely.
Its not like Liberals are rallying around Cindy Sheehan, she has no real pull in this country.

I guess my geography of the states in that area is slipping as I'd forgotten that there was a Charlotte in North Carolina.

It kinda loses the effect if the sentence is too long. Like, I don't wanna waste 45 seconds just to get your single thought across.
Meh, I put Sheehan on my list of people to tune out... along with Paris Hilton, Anna Nichole Smith, Tom Cruise, Phred Phelps...

There is a Charlotte in North Carolina, she went from GA to NC.

It's more that there's a Charlotte (pronounced differently though) not far from me that makes me forget about the one that's 800 miles away.

Um. The School of the Americas trained South American death squads, Wilgrove. Yes, Fort Benning also is used for legitimate armed forces training, but the School of the Americas WAS a School for Assassins.

Never been to a pro or anti war rally before, have you Wilgrove? Lemme give you a hint: badly policed protests almost always have people threatening others.
*sigh* Ms. Sheehan and his son must've not spend alot of time together before he died or else she would realize that a group of Veteran which she claims "threatens" her and a new military tactic are two completely separate things.
This is a complete Non-sequitor.
Seriously, Wilgrove, I hate to tell you this, but if you're gonna attack Crazy Cindy, at least pick something truly crazy she's done. You know, like... I dunno. Her anti-semetic essays?

Some in the press puffed her up with hype during the '04 election cycle, so there was a need to address it at one point. Nowadays it's just beating a dead horse, which should only be done for comic effect, I believe. :p

she has become a pathetic parody of herself.
what a befuddled person,i could give 2 shits about her politics, and i aint no righty either,it is pretty entertaining to see her unravel publicly,it's like seeing a car wreck, you dont want to look but have to.
same as bush's speach's,i watch for the pure comedy of it.
i can remember awhile back at "camp sheehan in tejas" when she had the lefts support(using her tragedy to further their agenda)she was lambasted as an attention whore by many, and equally defended as not being one.
guess her 15 minutes where not enough.
thats the problem with the left i think,in many cases, they go for the image/shock/pull on the heart strings, like a tv drama, but in retrospect, there really is no substance.
and i aint saying the right does not do that with the "fear" thing every chance they get.
i guess thats the problem with our instant gratification pop culture...all style,no substance.
she is a moron!
as for the remark about the soa being a school for assasins, while like any good lie,it is partly true, but not near the truth.
and my son went to ft.benning last summer for boot camp, goes back for ait in 2 weeks(school/injury thing)and if she called my kid an assasin or a murderer,or even stupid, she would be getting off the ground with a busted face.
i draw the line there,as i know my son,and he has a heart of gold.and he had to medivacd out of benning to the hospital, and my friend just came home from there today, with a broken leg.and has to recycle when his leg heals, and he is a very warm and decent person.
thay train them for war,but it still does not change the fact that they are decent and warm people, war does that.
and if people did not attack us,then my kid would not be there to begin with(my uncle died in 911) and it really affected my kid,but he is young, and i tried to talk him out of it.i dont like violence, but at some point you have to be willing to fight for what you believe in,and i happen to think that no matter how bad,or oil whores we are, trying to force fundamental islam on everyone is wrong, and murdering innocent people to obtain that goal is equally wrong, and i will fight against it.(what is the term they use..caliphate?)
it is not just about the west in the middle east,or about oil.they have twisted a religion(like the crusaders did)and it is wrong now, just like it was back in the crusades.

Shes referring to the "School of the Americas" located therein, whose graduates include some of the most notorious torturers and death squad leaders in Latin America. I occassionally refer to it as the "School for Nun rapers", amongst other things. It was (and still is) rather infamous.

Excelent content, chief. :p
He could never see the face of Goldstein without a painful mixture of emotions. It was a lean Jewish face, with a great fuzzy aureole of white hair and a small goatee beard -- a clever face, and yet somehow inherently despicable, with a kind of senile silliness in the long thin nose, near the end of which a pair of spectacles was perched. It resembled the face of a sheep, and the voice, too, had a sheep-like quality....The dull rhythmic tramp of the soldiers' boots formed the background to Goldstein's bleating voice....The Hate rose to its climax. The voice of Goldstein had become an actual sheep's bleat, and for an instant the face changed into that of a sheep.
Thank you, comrade.
