Third grader is not allowed to fly because he is a terrorist.
Come on folks, can't the TSA and airlines use a little common sense? A third grader who was going to take his first flight in an airplane was denied boarding because his name was on the no fly list.
They straightened it out and he was allowed to fly the next day, but couldn't someone have used a little common sense, or patted the kid down and strip searched him or something and.....Oh, I forgot....we are talking the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT...where common sense is lacking. :(

So, Lone Starr, now you see that evil will always triumph, because good is dumb...

Oh come on...this comment fails on several levels. First, you presume that everyone in the United States government is dumb, which is untrue. Second, you presume that terrorists must be evil and the United States must be good, which is not true. Third, you presume that good and evil actually exist beyond philosophical concepts, which is not true.
Please try again.

I agree with you there. People in government come from the general population, however they are indoctrinated to "follow the book"
Second, you presume that terrorists must be evil
I think their actions have proven they are evil so that isn't a presumption.
and the United States must be good, which is not true.
Relative to the terrorists, I think the US is good. Our government does some stupid things, but I think overall their motives are good.
Third, you presume that good and evil actually exist beyond philosophical concepts, which is not true.
I fully disagree with you on this point. You can see the evil in the deeds of people like Jeffrey Domler and others. You can see the antithesis of their actions in other people, in good people.

The US government are not the "good" to the terrorists "evil". The real world is a little more complicated than that.
Don't underestimate the danger of a 3rd grader. He might be packing toothpaste!

Everyone has a little good and a little evil and your perseption of this balance will be biased towards the society you have grown up with. There is no concrete "good" vs. "evil".

hey a third grader is 8 years old
8 year olds are smarter than chimpanzees
you wouldnt let a chimp on a plane
maybe they have a point.

Yes, well, being an absolutist while I am a moral relativist you would certainly disagree with me on this point. Doesn't make you correct, though, since my moral relativism is based on reality and facts, whereas absolutism is usually based on a religious viewpoint, and since all religious are wrong, absolutism is wrong.

That chimp could be concealing a bomb. Many security forces are expecting chimp related violence to step up in the next few months because of the creation of the Provisional CRA.

Doesn't believing that something is absolutely wrong make you an absolutist? How can a viewpoint on morality, as absolutism is, be absolutely wrong if all morality is relative?

The AOPA (Aircraft Owner and Pilots Association) really should be cashing in on every time Homeland Security and the TSA mess up and make an argument for how General Aviation is a better way to fly than by airlines. *nods*

Just another great example of the federal government's "one size fits all" approach.
And the federal agencies truly wonder why local law enforcement considers the feds a joke?
