i have mine pre-ordered on barnes and noble. i seem to be paying about $18 for it.
so are you going to go to one of the midnight parties? are going to pick up a copy where-ever on saturday? did you pre-order it? will you borrow a friend's copy? are you reading the pirated version online?
I haven't made any plans to, but I might.
Actually I'm expected to get it and have it read by Sunday so my sister can read it. That's what happened with all the others anyway.
After I crash in an alcoholic stupor on Friday night, I fully expect to see my wife just finishing the book when I come too.
Then I expect to spend the rest of the day listening to her complain that I won't read the damn things.
So, yes, the book will find its way into our home on Saturday.

you mean she wont spend the day whining about how rowlings ended it all wrong and save the complaining about your reading habits for sunday?

She knows I'd kill her quicker than Voldemort at [insert ending here, i'm too f'ing tired]...
By Saturday night, I'll know so much about the plot that I won't need to read it. Besides, barring divorce, I'll be seeing the movie when it comes out.

Told my parents to pre-order it for cheap, they didn't, they get to pay for it.
(I know I come off sounding bratty there so in my defense: the last thing I asked them to do for me was pay for an online course I did during the summer. The only reason I had to do it in the summer was because I let them choose my courses and they left biology out and I didn't drop any off the courses they told me to take because I knew it would dissapoint them. I also didn't ask for, or recieve anything for my birthday or Christmas. This is really the one thing I ask for. Yes, I know it is pathetic that it is Harry Potter but I've been reading it sense I was eight so it seems to be an important landmark almost for me to finish the series. Plus, I've put so much effort into scruntinising the books I really have to know what happens)

I pre-ordered it on Amazon and they've been sending several emails assuring us that it will indeed arrive on Saturday. Knowing our postal service, however, I'm not celebrating just yet...
Also, I still have to re-read almost all of book 5 and all of book 6, and I'm increasingly unsure how I'm supposed to manage that.... ><

Oh, and also I already totally hate that I'll have to lay off the internet (and maybe even TV and radio) until I finish the last one so as to not get spoilered...

hmmm i went to check to see where i pre-ordered it from and barnes and noble tells me they have sent it through UPS
but UPS doesnt deliver on saturday....
i hope they are making an exception this one time.

Screw that. Read the wiki articles so you know the gist of what happens then re-read the series afterwards. That's what I'm going to do(if I can find the other books :(), so I can see if I can spot any clues about what happens in the earlier books.

I plan on purchasing it, but probably not on Saturday, since by the time I get to any bookstore near where I live all copies will be gone. But I will definitely obtain one, especially after having read the leaked copy.

If you want it that bad you could read the pictures of every page some enterprising individual took and put on teh interwebs.

Mine's preordered. I wanted to finish the series ever since I was a midget. And I can't very well disappoint my midget self. You ever seen a midget cry?

Damn! That's actually a good idea with the clue spotting there.
Gnarf.
But I already re-read 1-4 and the first 200 pages or so of 5. And I really wanted to get up to date in detail before reading the last one. AND I really don't think I'll want to re-read stuff like Dumbledore's death if maybe in the last one he comes back or whatever.

I guess it could be done. But you'd have to do basically nothing else.

English. I read all my books in English (well, the ones originally in English, that is :p).
Also, the German translation doesn't come out until some time in October, which, hello! There is no way people won't know if Harry lives or dies until October.

A) People keep re-posting it
b) not all the sites have been found
c) the site which has the copy put up a fake copy.

Peer-to-Peer of some sort, probably.
I'll read it one day... Maybe I'll buy it, maybe I'll borrow my sister's... Depends. Dunno when I'll want to read it.
I can't for the life of me remember what happens in 6, other than Dumbledore dying.
:eek:They did that? Seriously? How can it still be up?
I doubt it is. But a lot of people could have gotten it before then. And some of them are bound to re-post it somewhere else.
Seriously, I'm not even going to think about harry potter if I'm on any search engine or wikipedia for fear of spoilers(and mind reading machines, but that's a story for another thread).

Well, it just took me about three minutes to find several copies available on one of the more infamous torrent sites...
(No, not downloaded any to verify them; don't want it yet and I don't like reading off my monitor as much as paper.)

Yeah, I'm not even going to go near the internet until I've finished it, unless maybe to post in the mafia thread real quick. I managed to get spoilered to every single death on "Lost" so far even though I was as paranoid and careful as can be and even stopped going to several pages...

Amazon is delivering it Saturday morning.
Unfortunately, I am 200 miles away, so my mother will have to pick up the box for me...
yeah. I'm going to have to wrestle her for it on Monday.

That said, I'd suggest those who do want to read the leaks be careful about what they download. I know if I was the virus making type of person I'd disguise it as a leak of Deathly Hallows.

Yeah, well, I didn't know that there were actual copies floating around out there, so I didn't really think I'd stumble across a "Harry totally dies!" thread title before Saturday (at which time I wouldn't have come here anymore anyway).
But now that I know.... *sniffle*
On the other hand, if I really say goodbye to the internet for good now I might actually have enough time to read the stupid books... ><
Also, Ifreann: what says that somebody isn't editing Wiki as we speak to add the info they gained from the copied pages? Be careful!

I certainly didn't. I don't understand why people would do that, especially since the last page(s) make no sense most of the time without everything that came before it. A couple things in the last page(s) of this book, for instance, will be completely incomprehensible without what has followed previously.

I think I will probably get it sometime in November, when it is translated into Portuguese. I, personally, have not read any of the Harry potter books, but my son reads them, and the English would be a little too hard for him as of yet.

Not on saturday... unless fates conspire for me to be anywhere near a bookstore... that has one in stock.... and I have money...
Someone got me The Sorceror's Stone a while back. After 10 pages I lost interest. Then I saw the movie on HBO, after 10 minutes I lost interest.

No, but my daughter will--I ordered it for her via Amazon. I'll get around to reading it eventually, but I figure I'll find out who dies when the first speed reader (or cheat to the ender) around here puts it up in a thread with a big ass "SPOILERS" tag on it.
