I'm about to watch this epic silent film, and I'm wondering what other people thought about it.

Also, while your at it, feel free to suggest other awesome old movies.

It's cool. Classic vampire stuff, 20s German expressionism and all that. Fun movie. :)

Hopefully it's the remastered Nosferatu that adjusted the speed to realistic and included the Blue Filter like they used in theatres back when it was actually released. Emphasizes the shadows and other creepy aspects of the film that's lost in B&W.

Probably not, unfortunately. With some quick Windows Movie Player editing, I could probably do it myself though. Kind of.

It's better than Dust till Dawn, but that's not hard :)

You know, that movie actually seemed like it was going to be half way decent. Until the vampires showed up. Then it just went to shit.

Sad really. A really good open killed by a completely terrible back end.

My favorite of that style is Metropolis, there are a lot of restorations out there...

and of course Cabinet of Dr. Calagari, but be sure you get one that preserves the buggy title cards.

And M. I think I managed to hit all the major ones that everyone knows about anyway...ah well...

This was the first film I saw which scared me when I was really young.

I love the scenes in the old city of Bremen. It no longer exists, being destroyed in World War 2.

not that its scary but if you like silent movies, dont miss "the gold rush" with charlie chaplin.

when i rented it from netflix it included the later version where chaplin did a narration voiceover as well as the original with breaks for written explanations (i cant remember what they are called).

I love Nosferatu!!!

You should enjoy this, get a bit creeped out and then watch 'Shadow of a Vampire' with John Malkovich and Willem Defoe - its about the making of Nosfertu - in a comical way. Its almost slapstick.

Nosferatu is a great silent film. However for Vampire movies in general the best was the 1992 Dracula.

Nosferatu is a truly excellent movie. Max Schreck made, for me, the most compelling Vampire ever put on the screen.

You might also want to try Lon Chaney's silent version of Phantom of the Opera if you ever get the chance. Chaney is wonderfully creepy, and keep in mind that he did not use make-up to get the horrific facial features revealed when the Phantom is unmasked.

I saw Nosferatu by accident when I was 4 years old .

the shadow creeping up the stairs in black & white, the film quality scared the crap out of me for a while.
