This amusing little exchange happened recently to me.

Note not all terrorists are from the Middle East.

Technically the silly guy is right about the IRA, since the USA does not consider the IRA to be a foreign terrorist organisation. Why that is so is beyond me though.

Because of those Americans that cling onto their Irish heritage and a romantic view of what that means

I don't know if it counts as a "forum," but there's a very active comments section on a blog that I frequent, and some real winners have appeared there.

**WARNING: This example involves reference to anal sex. May not be work-safe. Rated "M" for Mature.**

Most recently, we were commenting on an article from http://men.style.com/ about anal sex. The article was originally titled, "Is it okay to demand anal sex?" and is basically all about hetero guys who like to demand that female partners engage in anal sex because it is painful and demeaning for the women. This should give you an idea of how fun the discussion got.

The best part, for me, was when I pointed out that if anal sex is painful for you or your partner, you're doing it wrong. I even posted a couple of helpful links that help explain things for people who have never tried anal sex but are interested in doing so. If you actually prepare correctly, anal sex should NOT be painful, and shouldn't really be any more messy than PIV sex. (I'm not personally in to anal sex, but I believe that it's always best to inform and educate so people can make good choices and can be safe while exploring sex.)

The response was priceless.

It was literally a long series of hetero boys trying to explain how forcing a penis into a woman's unlubricated anus with no foreplay whatsoever is proof that they are Very Studly Dudes. They all went to great lengths to describe how lousy they are in bed, triumphantly describing their failure to use lube or protection and their ability to batter their way in without helping their partner relax in any way.

At least half a dozen posts of that sort went up, before the female posters started responding with uproarious laughter and pitying pats on the head.

I think the Studly Hetero Boys were expecting the bitchez to get all angry and complain about how sexist they were. That would have allowed the boys to bond over how awesome they are for pissing off women, and how Manly they are for putting the bitchez in their place.

Instead, they just got a torrent of women giggling at them and explaining--in great detail--all the reasons why their Studly Stories actually show that the poor boys have absolutely no skills whatsoever.

From the other forum I inhabit, a dumbass who asked a question that would violate OPSEC (operational security).

*Holds up his hands* Whoa! Okay!
I'm just curious! Nothing more. People talk plenty about how well the Beretta works, how well the M4 works, and how well the 5.56 works in all the gun rags, no holds barred, and it's all made very public, even though that seems like it would endanger the lives of our troops.
I just figured it would be okay to ask, and if it's not okay, that's cool. It's idle curiousity, and I didn't know a question about how fast a unit chews up batteries would be a violation of OPSEC/PERSEC.
I'm sorry. I don't have much experience and I'm just curious about stuff.

That's not what you said, which makes it your third strike now the Johnson family gets a chance to steal. Johnson family?

Johnson family: "You do not have to allow any person who applies to join any forum actually join or start posting. If you had any interest in actually making sure people were members of the military when joining, you would verify them before allowing them to post anywhere. But instead, you all sit around in some 'hehe we are military' circle jerk and flame posters for not being military when you didn't even have to let them post in the first place."

And the Johnson family wins.

I'm done with this. It was obvious from your first and subsequent posts in this and other threads what kind of forums you hang out at. No really, you extremely fail, a lot.

It's easy enough to set it up so people can't even view certain areas of the forums, post at all, or do anything much, without admin approval.

You could easily do it so that, upon registration, you sent an email to the admins and anyone else who verifies your record with the relevant details, and if you didn't, your account couldn't be activated.

You could also make it quite clear that if you lied, legal action could well occur.

Unless you were some kind of retard at coding and administering forums in general, this is fairly simple. 'Nuff said.

But no, you like your little arrangement where you can flame people and generally have a circlejerk of it with your mates in the forces against people essentially for no good reason.

You could mount weapons on the wheelchair. Or place them in an advanced walker exoskeleton, add a shield and beam weapon and let them walk around shooting zerg...

More serious: plenty of jobs where people can sit in a chair. Gunnery officers on ships for example.

OOH! Can I get one? :D

n the blur of smoke and blood after a bomb blew up under his Humvee in Iraq, Sgt. Tawan Williamson looked down at his shredded leg and knew it couldn't be saved. His military career, though, pulled through. Less than a year after the attack, Williamson is running again with a high-tech prosthetic leg and plans to take up a new assignment, probably by the fall, as an Army job counselor and affirmative action officer in Okinawa, Japan.

In an about-face by the Pentagon, the military is putting many more amputees back on active duty — even back into combat, in some cases.

Williamson, a 30-year-old Chicago native who is missing his left leg below the knee and three toes on the other foot, acknowledged that some will be skeptical of a maimed soldier back in uniform.

"But I let my job show for itself," he said. "At this point, I'm done proving. I just get out there and do it."

So, I guess if you can laugh at him, I'll laugh at your disability Maineiacs.

You didn't even read the post - go back and see this part:

I know several who are back in combat without a leg.

They don't have any example of anyone going into combat, just anecdotes. And I trust their anecdotes far more than yours.

No serious amputees are going into combat.

Lot of action there, you know, in Okinawa.

Let me help you read the rest of the linked article:

To go back into the war zone, they have to prove they can do the job without putting themselves or others at risk.

One amputee who returned to combat in Iraq, Maj. David Rozelle, is now helping design the amputee program at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington. He has counted seven other amputees who have lost at least part of a hand or foot and have gone back to combat in Iraq.

The 34-year-old from Austin, Texas, said he felt duty-bound to return after losing his right foot to a land mine in Iraq.

"It sounds ridiculous, but you feel guilty that you're back home safe," he said. "Our country is engaged in a war. I felt it was my responsibility as a leader in the Army to continue."

Rozelle commanded a cavalry troop and conducted reconnaissance operations when he returned to Iraq, just as he had before the mine blast. Other amputees who have returned to combat, ranging from infantry grunts to special forces soldiers, have conducted door-to-door searches, convoy operations and other missions in the field.

"Guys won't go back if it means riding a desk," Rozelle said.

Oh yes I did.

They put others back into combat.

You're insinuating that they don't.

They put them back into combat if they can do the job and request it.

So your point that somehow, soldiers don't go back into combat, or Maineiac's impression that somehow, soldiers are weak individuals who can't handle being disabled is a bunch of bullshit.

Very interesting, but your original claim was:

Oooooh! Some of us ARE disabled.

Some of us don't have one of their legs, for example, from the hip down.

Somehow, still on active duty, out there killing people...

The only example they give of an amputee "out there killing people" a man who lost his foot.
