Um, this is ancient. It has its own wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuban_Project) and everything; 9/11 conspiracy theorists are nuts on this as an example of false flag operations. Proof or not, it's not exactly news.

I think most of us have known for years that the US govt is completely insane. I've known since I read an article about this many years ago.

I give that a Meh, on a scale of Meh to 100. Superstition and belief in the supernatural are something I'd imagine a lot of governments need to get the hell over. Particularly the ones whose laws are dictated by a religion.

A modern day real witch trial would be considerably more interesting. Pursuing psychic experiments when there are perfectly rational people who believe in the possibility of psychic abilities? Not so much.

Edit: Besides, haven't you played Red Alert 2? We need to get psychic powers before the Russians do, man!

You just discovered the Bay of Pigs?

Well let me catch you up with few things...
There was war, but not a war, in Vietnam...
Kennedy was assassinated, so was Bobby...
We landed on the Moon...
There was Woodstock...

eh, just go listen to that awful Billy Joel song.

What's more crazy about it is that they took from the 70s up until 1995 to decide it wasn't worth the $20 million a year they were putting into it.

That's actually one thing I really like about the Red Alert series. They have a lot of the paranormal conspiracy stuff in it, like the Philadelphia experiment, Tesla coils (conspiracy in that some thought Tesla caused the Tunguska event with one) and stuff like that. Paranormal stuff fascinates me, but not enough to want the government to spend $20 million a year on it for a couple of decades.

Not as far as government spending goes (especially the US government) but it's still a lot of money.

Think about the amount of money that's getting funneled into Iraq, for instance.

Um... What exactly is nuts about this? Look, if you want to call the US Gov't nuts, there are plenty of reasons to do so. The Cuban Project is not one of them.

Even greater evidence that the US govt is nuts.

I refuse to see government spending relative to other government spending. While I certainly have nothing against government spending in principle, I want it to be for a good purpose and to spend our money wisely. Rather than say "Oh, it's only $20 million out of a budget that it over a trillion" I say "How many more doses of flu vaccine could we have bought?" or "How many college tuitions could we have paid for?"

It's called the Bay of Pigs invasion and this is what that article is pretty much about. We trained a bunch of Cuban refugees and sent them over to Cuba with some guns and got their asses kicked.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10990 allows the government to take over all modes of transportation and control of highways and seaports.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10995 allows the government to seize and control the communication media.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10997 allows the government to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels and minerals.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10998 allows the government to take over all food resources and farms.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11000 allows the government to mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11001 allows the government to take over all health, education and welfare functions.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11002 designates the Postmaster General to operate a national registration of all persons.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11003 allows the government to take over all airports and aircraft, including commercial aircraft.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11004 allows the Housing and Finance Authority to relocate communities, build new housing with public funds, designate areas to be abandoned, and establish new locations for populations.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11005 allows the government to take over railroads, inland waterways and public storage facilities.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11051 specifies the responsibility of the Office of Emergency Planning and gives authorization to put all Executive Orders into effect in times of increased international tensions and economic or financial crisis.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11310 grants authority to the Department of Justice to enforce the plans set out in Executive Orders, to institute industrial support, to establish judicial and legislative liaison, to control all aliens, to operate penal and correctional institutions, and to advise and assist the President.

Of course, that's only in a declared national emergency.

So, in such a case, the government could seize your house, declare it to be property of the government, pressgang you into a work brigade (and force you to do their bidding), etc., etc., etc.
