A girl from Texas destroys her school, and only gets a four month suspension.
'I love Alex' equated to terrorism threat
Eagle Staff Report
KATY - Writing "I love Alex" on a gymnasium wall earned a suburban Houston sixth-grader four months at an alternative campus for an infraction school officials lump in the same severity as making terroristic threats.
Written with a baby blue marker, the graffiti by Shelby Sendelbach, 12, was considered by the Katy Independent School District as a Level 4 infraction - also the same level for drug possession and assault.
Only murder, gun possession, sexual assault and arson are considered more severe by the district.
School district spokesman Steve Stanford said the district followed a state law requiring assignment to an alternative school for graffiti.
Her parents have appealed the decision, and a hearing is set for later this month.
"We are shocked that the school district rules as they are written make no distinction between what Shelby is accused of and what a gang member does with a can of black spray paint," Stu Sendelbach, Shelby's father, said.
It's obvious that what she did was not only a bad decision, but could have resulted in the deaths of several of her classmates.

"Alex" is clearly a euphemism for "Allah"; she's obviously an Islamist Extremist hell-bent on destruction of the West. "Re-Education" in a "Secure Facility" is the soft option for such terrible criminals.

Maybe Alex is real ugly or something.
Of course it was dangerous! She didn't state which Alex! All the Alex's in the school, both boys and girls, would be confused as to who she was talking about! This confusion would lead to instability and eventually rioting. They were just nipping this attack in the bud!
Why the radio button? I can't disagree more than once! :(

I'd expect there to be quite a harsh disciplinary regime in a district where everyone seems to have the initials 'SS'.

So when is she getting shipped off to Gitmo?
These are the kind of people who were failed as "Ignorant Customs Officers" for being overly surly and bound to the letter of the law.

Maybe she fit the profile on that Texas terrorism brochure.
Probably was running a keg party or something.

Her pen is alcohol based. Meaning that if she used in the gym, that endanger the users of the gym, because they may get drunk with the alcohol from the pen and face an accident while doing sports.
I say death penalty.

Whatever happened to having the girl and her parents come in and scrub off the wall/pay for the removal? GEEZ. Talk about overkill.

School policies nowadays seem to be overkill.
Can't bring in a small tin with a few aspirin.
Can't have a small pocketknife (most boys in elementary school did in the 1960s and we didn't have knife fights, stabbings, or mayhem).
Any violation nowadays seems to be immediately and unavoidably escalated with no chance for judgment on the part of adminstrators.

Give it time. Most of them excel at writing inane policies that don't allow for any latitude on the part of administrators or teachers.

Unless the teachers are very cool and sneaky. I got suspended for a week when I was 17 for getting in a fight. Fortunately it was my first time getting in trouble and there were plenty of people to back me up to show that I hadn't started things. Rather than give me an official suspension they just told me to take a week off unofficially and not tell anyone it was unofficial. That way the other party involved thought the punishment had been a fair one when I had come out of it much much better
