Why is it that men can walk around without a top on, can dance in videos wearing just a pair of shorts (or less), can even walk down the street wearing just shorts or can answer the door in their underwear.... but women get called "sluts" if they do so much as wear a short skirt? It's fucked up

I believe that no one should ever be allowed to see any part of my body other than my hands, arms (below the elbow), face, neck, and maybe feet, and it's about 87 degrees Farenheit here (which I think is over 30 degrees Celsius), but I still wear pants (never shorts or skirts) all the time. But what you described is a double standard, and women shouldn't have to recieve that kind of criticism when men can wear less than them and get away without any comment.

i don't think girls in short skirts look like sluts at all. it takes far more than that to make a "slut"... its in the makeup, attitude, jewelery (ie. too much... ditto for makeup), things like that. short skirts just look good :) (on tasty ladies anyhoo)

It's a culture thing. When there's a tradition of hiding body parts even hinting at their existence is provocative, either in a sexual or offensive sense (or both). In some cultures female breasts are just there to feed children and are practically always visible with no special stigma attached to them.

Coincidentally, formal dress code for ladies is much more freer than with men. I mean, women can go around wearing relatively light dress when it's 30C outside but men still have to wear a friggin' (sweat :p) suit. Conversely, during winter we're allowed a light overcoat and a pair of gloves in addition to the suit...While women can take the heaviest furcoat they can get their hands on. :eek:

Culture is a bitch...For that matter there can be no equality between sexes until women(!) also start campaigning for men's rights too (we're too...manly...to do it ourselves) :D

If I walked around with no top on people would stare at my boobies even more than they do when I have a top on. I get enough of guys talking to my chest without me waving them about in public thank you very much! If I wanted to I could answer my door in my underwear, I have even answered it naked, but that is when I knew who was outside, and they already liked the idea of me being a slut and that was why they came home early...;)
