I'm going to have to say Newman. Not for the actor himself, but more for what he represented in the show. The ultimate bumbling New York inter-apartment rival. He was, well, Newman.

No way, it's Larry, Darryl, and my other brother Darryl from the Bob Newhart show.

Noel Shempsky (the star trek geek off of Frasier), I think we can all relate to him :p

What an oddly specific "Best X" thread.

What an oddly specific "Best X" thread.

It wasn't on purpose, I swear!

What an oddly specific "Best X" thread.

Indeed - but I like the style of this compared to the usual je-ne-sais-quoi of the 'What's you favorite' NS game show.

The only drawback to this particular one is that, yes, Newman wins and so the thread self-fulfills on the very first post alas

Nah, I could always relate to Niles...my favorite recurring minor character was Bob "Bulldog" Briscoe.

seriously, it was so hilarious, they would look at him like  and everyone would laugh at him and I was like "he's a nice guy! he's just like my husband!"

John and Mary O'Leary, Tom, and Father Noel Furlong. And let's not forget Bishop Leonard "Len" Brennan.
If you don't know what programme they're from, shame on you.

I'll add a vote for Newman, but honorable mentions go out for Peterman and Frank Costanza.

If we're going to get pedantic about it (here? on NS? well, I never!), Cheers was an 80's Primetime sitcom, so doesn't qualify for this thread.
so there. nyah.
