Favouriet? what's that?

Anyway, since i have no idea what the poll is supposed to be, it gets the obligatory vote for all options.

The car I'd like to drive most would be a BMW M4. I don't think I'd need to worry about owning it because I'd probably kill myself in the first couple hours of the test drive.

Reminds me of a neighbor's brother who had a race car...A Hemi powered Barracuda. He ended up replacing almost every part in the drive train before he could get all the torque to the wheels. Then he scared himself so badly that he sold the car.

Where is the other in the poll? My favorite car is a Civic Hybird. I don't need some expensive car to show off and make me feel big, I use cars as transportation only.

Too many to choose from...here's a few, though.

Pagani Zonda C12S. Beautiful, and insane.

Koenigsegg CCXR. 1000bhp+, and it runs on bio-fuel.
http://www.villiard.com/images/voitures/10-automobiles/Koenigsegg-CCX.jpg

Caterham 7 Superlight R500. Pretty much a road legal go-kart.

Nadkor continues her ruling ways.

The biofuel one is extra cool.

In that vein, the Tesla Roadster (http://www.teslamotors.com/index.php).

Porsche rules supreme. I would LOVE for them to come out with a 'GT' version of the Cayman (like the 911 GT3, a track day monster that you can use everyday). They won't, because if they do so much as add a limited differential to the current Cayman S it will lap Nurgburgring faster than the 911 and they won't allow that. I really should learn how to spell that track...but the Cayman (and of course the GT3) are my faves right now. Not that the turbo isn't cool, but it starts to get into Super Car territory, where I have more care than I'll be able to use even on a track day and I start to feel like I'm keeping a tiger as a house pet, just not fair to the tiger. I live close enough to some fantasticly twisty roads that a handling beast like the Cayman and the GT3 and the Caterham and the Elise/Exige would be all kinds of fun.

Going fast isn't enough. Any idiot can jam his right foot down. Racing is won on the brakes.

Why do they make regular street cars that go to 100 plus miles per hour? I've never understood that. Most speed limits are what .. like 55 to 70 mph right? It's like, here .. buy this very freakin fast car.. now don't drive it. I could understand if you lived near the Autobahn or something, but it even has limits I believe. I can understand having a car that is fast off the jump.. to get out of the way or pass something. But the top speeds I don't get.

Like that Pagani Zonda C12 S (2000)
" Top speed is 220 mph (354 km/h) for the coupe and 215 mph (346 km/h) for the roadster. "

When .. where is one going to be getting that thing up to that speed?

On a race track perhaps. One that you might like to drive to. Why do people buy computers that are overpowered for their needs? Why do people buy houses bigger than are adequete? Maybe because they like the engineering involved, etc or as a way to show off
Nadkor

It's not that you can drive it at that speed, it's the possibility that you could if the opportunity presented itself...

But, yes, acceleration and handling are far more important in the "real world". It just so happens that the three cars I picked excel in these areas, especially the Caterham.

Of all the cars I've owned (1st Gen Eclipse turbo, WS.6 Trans Am, four or five BMW 3ers, a late 2nd Gen Eclipse GSX, a Suzuki GSX-R 750, a 2000 Audi S4, and for a very short time a 98 Supra Turbo), I've never, ever been disapointed by the BMWs. Currently in one right now, even. Not the best for modding (people charge out the asses for them), but fun to drive, decently quick, handle well enough.

Right now I'm in a 330i ZHP with intake, headers, exhaust, tune, Dinan throttle body, and some other goodies. Looking to get into that new 335i. Turbo back exhaust, good ecu tune, and some nice 93 octane and I'd be set.

Jeez, can't you people find reasonably-sized pictures?

Anyways, I don't have a one favourite car. I have a favourite in almost every class of car.

Hatchback: Renaultsport Clio 182 (I drive a 172 now, so I suppose I'm biased)

Small saloon: Whatever the latest incarnation of the Evo IX MR-FQ series is.

Everyday car: Audi RS4

Big saloon: Maserati Quattroporte (it's just so much prettier than the M5)

Sportscar: Lotus Exige

Really quick car: Porsche GT3 (or GT3 RS, I'm thinking the latter will be hard to live with every day)

Supercar: Lamborghini Gallardo (though I'd take an F430 too, especially once the CS comes out)

Hypercar: Koenigsegg CCXR

And an honourable mention to all those I forgot as well as the Ariel Atom and the Wiesmann Roadster.

i voted enzo cause i love ferraris, ogled a f430 yesterday down at the local conveniance store.

real world somewhat affordable cars..i'd say a z-06 vette for pure sports( near enzo performance for a 1/8th the price) or a bentley continental gt,family car and all.
my other performance coupe would have to be the bmw m-6(500 hp v-10)and four seats to share the fun.

i am also partial to the porsche caymen s,but for bang for the buck, the vette(non z-06 wins hands down)sports car wise(2 seater)

But they won't be real TVRs. They'll be built in Italy by a Russian guy.

And since he's basically written off Britain as a market and concentrates mainly on the US now, we'll probably have extra headroom, cupholders and an automatic version soon. :(

Well, first he's going to realize sooner or later that we're a shrinking market and others are growing. Second, just because Chevy insists on still phoning in the interior of the 'Vette, it doesn't mean that we demand it.

Unless it has paddle shifters, say no to automatics.

I'm psychic. After I logged I imagined someone posting about buying that big house with 14 bathrooms. When it becomes against the law to live in a big house or use a hoss computer then that will be a comparison.

My whole point was the law against speeding. Top lawful driving speed on roads 80.. make a car for those roads that go 180. Ya know? I know the real reason these cars are made .... because people will buy them. Goes for motorcycles too.

I wasn't really thinking about the racetrack part. But yeah, the ones that have enough money to buy some of these cars can build, buy or rent a track to play around on. Although more than likely they'll hit that stretch of road somewhere near them and just break the law for 10 minutes. Possibly getting it up to 150 hehe. That one I looked at earlier that will hit over 200 .. they better be on a track if they decide to open it up. I'd hate to see it on a regular interstate or god forbid a highway .. hit a small dip in the road at that speed and you're through.

I was more or less thinking about the general public though. Even a regular old honda civic will hit 120. The super expensive road cars are just the extreme of it. No biggie.. it's just a little thing that doesn't make sense to me.

See...VW have always been reluctant to get into sport. They were seriously considering F1 a few years ago (and is there any better global motor sport advertising platform for a manufacturer?), but decided that the cost of winning was too high (admittedly it is; Toyota are reputed to have spent the best part of $1.5bn in the last 5 years, and are still scraping around in the midfield). I can't help but think they'd do the same with most series.

I wish Lambos didn't look like they were carved out of soap. And while the new R8 is kinda cool, I'm looking forward to a street application of the R10.

Oh, come on, the Gallardo is stunning. I've seen a few about (there appear to be at least 3 in Belfast...one black (drool...), one orange, and one yellow). They're gorgeous. Especially in black.

Well, first he's going to realize sooner or later that we're a shrinking market and others are growing.
Yeah, though the biggest up-and-coming markets (ie Russia, China and India) are dominated by customers who want to show off rather than drive. I've read some interesting things about Chinese car culture recently, and so far the idea of driving for fun hasn't entered into anything just yet (though it might eventually). The height of automotive achievement there is a car with a blacked out window so you don't have to look at your chauffeur.

Anyways, I think that TVR is probably gone. Whatever the guy ends up calling TVR won't be anything like the company used to be...I mean, can you imagine him getting a car on the market without traction control or ABS?

Maybe Bristol will take off where they left it. This (http://www.topgear.com/content/news/stories/1301/) has got just a bit of Cerbera Speed 12 about it.

Well, you don't have to buy, build, or rent a track. Most tracks are idle most of the year and they fill the calender with track days for general and owners clubs.

Top speeds on things like Civics are partially a result of acceleration and efficiency. You're moving the middle band of the car so that it's 'comfortable' at 70mph (the highest in California, in Montana there are some 'unrestricted roads' but I really don't like the way they're set up because you can get a ticket if the officer 'thinks you're going too fast.' No sir, I don't like it. Give me a number then, I don't want it to be okay to rip through at 80 one day and not be okay to do it at 70 the next.), the gearing and the power band of the car to be able to put it at a cruising speed around whats highway legal puts its top end over 100mph. Governors will effect 'on demand' power and do more to make the car not as usable than prevent speeding.

The Fighter T is the first super 200mph car that I kinda like in a "I'd drive that more than once" kind of a way. I don't have any ownership ambitions for most of the supercars, they're an interesting novelty, make a good poster for 12 year olds, but after you top the speedo pretty much done. But that one looks like it's got some function to it. I likey.

Ahh ok, I didn't know that about tracks. That's pretty cool. And yeah.. they should set a limit, I'd want want the speed posted too. So those real fast cars won't hit their cruising speed til like 130? That would definitely be fun on a track. Especially those tracks like they use for indy cars.
