Well, the school denies it... but let us ignore that ;)
How would it respond to a boy named Jesus wishing to enrol ? That is after all a common name in many Spanish speaking countries...

Lol, rather strange, I went through Australia catholic schooling my whole life, and it was never remotely religious (as in forcing beliefs on people), in fact it was remarkably secular and in religion classes you chose to do Islam, Christianity, Hindu etc as your study. The other thing I can think is, the school thought it was a joke.

Well Muslim schools I am sure don't mind having kids called Muhammad, they would have a problem if they did:)

So one priest objected, he was counseled, and the boy was offered admission. Looks like a non-story to me. Either that, or the dad wants a jackpot payoff in a lawsuit. How does that work in Australia?

If he eventually becomes pope, He can be known as Pope Holy Hell. :D

Hell: "Hah! Hell is my middle name!" ;)

Yeah. Big non story.
Story says a few times that they offered the kid enrolment.
And I agree with Andaras Prime, as I went to the oldest Catholic boys school in NZ. Never once was Catholic doctrine/teaching/bible bashing, whatever, forced on us.
Oh and Mymidonisia, wicked name.

The boy's parents complained he was being bullied and harassed over his surname at his current school and sought a transfer, Herald Sun Online understands
so they sent him to catholic school?

When the kid gets older he'll appreciate the name.
After all, what does the Catholic Church teach?
That girls who have premarital sex are Going to Hell.
:D
For a bachelor party, he can get a stripper who's Going to Hell in a Handbasket.
:D
And of course, a really hot woman is going to be called...
A Hellraiser.

And when he starts driving, he'll be Hell on wheels.
Instead of Charlie's Angels, it would be Hell's Angels...Okay, that sucked.
Freeing himself from bondage would be Hell breaks loose.
When he buys a house, the approach would be the Road to Hell and we know how that's one's paved.

They must have mistaken the church's offer of guaranteed 'salvation from hell' for "salvation *for* Hell" and thought themselves blessed by a miracle.

heck, just being a teacher.
First Math class was Hell.
Then I went to Hell for Science.
I just hope I don't go to Hell for Sex Ed...

It's a nonissue, the context is what matters.
obviously there is some confusion or difference of opinion on this one.
I think that Hell is not a profane word... actually I think the church uses it quite often.

The Catholic School turned the boy down because it would be an awful temptation for the priests.
Can you imagine how it would make Pope Palpatine look if reports came out about priests giving in to temptation and Going to Hell to commit sin?

That is Designatory Descrimination. If i had a name my church didnt like i wouldnt change it just cause they didnt like it. i would show up anyways, and if they kick me out, ill play pranks on them that are non distructive but just as annoying as the ones that are.
