Okay, I have a really strange dillema. I just inheireted an ancient laptop (as in it only has one usb port). Is there any way to use the wifi capabilities of my Palm LifeDrive to access wifi hotspots on the laptop? Or am i stuck with buying a wifi USB adptor?
I think a funeral pyre is in order, aside from that I am clueless :confused:

I know it's piece of crap, but it's MY piece of crap, and i plan to use the damnhing until it dies.

Even the old deserve attention I guess. Sorry I can't help you, all my tech equipment is only a year old or less. (Though if something is over 6 monthes old in the computer world it is obselete, how old is the computer?)

It is a USB 1.1 or 2.0 port? If it's USB 1.1 just give up.
USB 1.1 is 12 Mbits/s max
USB 2.0 is 480 Mbit/s max

My old laptop has NO usb ports and merely two 16 bit pcmcia card slots.

If your laptop has a 32 bit cardbus slot you could put a wifi card in it and obtain acceptable speeds.

12 MBits/s is probably faster than his internet connection.
