Top Gear, despite rumours to the contrary, is indeed coming back to the BBC!

Link (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/6281512.stm) here confirms as much. The environmental issue notwithstanding, thank the lord the best damn show on television is not dead:)

I saw that story today and just figured it was an old episode I'd missed.

I hope it does come back, it's the only decent thing on on a Sunday night.

Hopefully they'll make changes to correct things like this while also maintaining what makes the show great. Not sure how though

I don't mind Sunday nights actually. Rome remains the tits, and the sooner Match of the Day 2 is back, the better.

But yeah, it has to come back. Not quite sure how they'll top the Fly-Drive in Alabama last series, but I live in hope they will:D

I'd be Hooraying more if we had BBC here. :(

Although sometimes BBC content is played on public t.v. - I even got to see Mr. Bean talk a few days ago! :D Funny guy.

I don't think they'll ever manage to beat that episode. I'm sure they'll get some more tanks and helicopters and jets in to make it good fun.

We knew it would be back. Clarkson said so himself in Top Gear magazine a few months back, and all of Clarkson, May, and Hammond's pieces say "Top Gear will be back in October" at the bottom.

Some say the television networks can't kill him.

All we know is that he's the Stig.

Come people, there are some fairly bright people on this board, surely we can work out who the Stig is between us?

I very much approve.

My idea is that The Stig is simply one or more stunt drivers.

Too obvious and boring you say? Let me finish.

The Stig is one or more stunt drivers who was created by the Illuminati to drive their various vehicles of war. The BBC, being owned and run by the Illuminati, put some of these super drivers to use when creating Top Gear due to their difficulty in hiring actual human stunt drivers.

For my sins, I've never read it. All I was going on was Clarkson's reported comments in his column which suggested the last series was it.

Nooooooo. The Stig is in fact King Arthur, finding something to do with his time until he's needed.

In all seriousness, I haven't got a clue. I would love it to be Schumacher, but I imagine that would be unlikely.

I thought it was Damon Hill for a while.

That's not a bad guess actually. It could be Jimmy Carr*shudder*

I thought Hill was the old one, the new one is too short and stocky.

It's one of those things that bugs me. I hate that the internet can't give me the answer to a question.

Mansell then?

Mansell then?

Not a bad idea. He's still the only one to beat the Stig around the track in the reasonably priced car.

Really? I didn't know that.

Thinking about it, it would be amusing if it was May.

It's never going to be May, he was awful in that piece with the TVR and Jackie Stewert.

I'm leaning towards a rally driver for the new one. It's something about the way he corners and the fact that all the F1 drivers who do the circuit take the same line but a different one to him.

That's why they always called the Stig 'it' in the first episode.
