Looks like Mama Cindy is going after big game. So, if Mama Cindy runs against Pelosi and you could vote in the election which one would you vote for, Mama Cindy or Nancy?

Ooh, threatening her. She wouldn't beat her in the race, period.

Plus, impeachment would repeat Clinton: enough to bring the charges, but not enough to convict.

What a choice, Crazy Cindy or Red Nancy. I guess I'd vote for Cindy -- only because she would fill the position of House Fool that was vacated when another Cindy (McKinney) was defeated in her primary.

Pelosi, if only because she's a politician, not an activist.

We all know what Sheehan thinks about the War in Iraq, but what about the economy? What about abortion? What about gay marriage? What about the who knows how many other political issues she'd have to deal with?

Sorry Cindy, but you need more than one trick to be in this show.

I've never understood why American right wingers spend half their lives using red as an insult and the other half being proud of living in a red state.

I think it came about after those district-by-district maps were printed, showing that Gore's voters were concentrated in small areas. The map was shown on all the cable networks, and of course the Bush-voting districts were red, to sort of drown out the blue - had it been reversed, it wouldn't have looked as decisive. :p I think that's partially to blame.

and im sure her son would not want to see her doing this, running around the country, trying to stop a war before it is time. i dont like the war either, but we are stuck in it now. hopefuly the next president will take us out of iraq to where the actuall terrorist camps are, like afganistan

I didn't expect to be back so soon, but the focus is different than it was before. Instead of talking and making accusations, we're going into communities and talking to the people who've been hurt by the Bush regime. We're finding out how we can help people.

On the bright side, at least she's changed things to try to help people...

Not at all, Monty.

I wholeheartedly endorse Sheehan's running against San Fran Nan. Why? First, because I absolutely despise SFN and would probably support anyone running against her. Second, because Sheehan's well-known enough to actually make it a fight, thus forcing SFN to expend more resources than she otherwise would have defending her seat. Third, because if Sheehan actually wins, a sitting Democrat Speaker will have been thrown out of Congress, which would be a sight to behold in and of itself--even Jim Wright only resigned, he wasn't voted out.

Not likely. The Republicans are in bad shape all across the board, especially the Senate. It's far more likely that Pelosi and Reid will have larger margins to govern with. And the same goes for the Presidential race at the moment.

I've never understood why American right wingers spend half their lives using red as an insult and the other half being proud of living in a red state.

because

free enterprise > socialism

Repeat after me:

Socialism is not an American ideal. Socialism is not an American ideal. Socialism is not...

As for Sheehan vs. Pelosi

It's "I hate America; I want America to lose" vs. "I want to tax the hell out of all of you"

sounds like two great choices.

muhahahahahahaha

And yet this is the crap I have to deal with in the US--where Nancy Pelosi is a communist and Newt Gingrich is not only sane, he's an elder fucking statesman. Ugh.

While Pelosi, as batty as she is, isn't quite a communist (maybe halfway there :p), there's no question that Newt's a strong contender, should he choose to run. The fact that he's left some democrats with a sour taste in their mouths even having been away from mainstream politics for ten years only confirms it. ;) Although I'm beginning to think we're going to have to settle for second-best among our candidates this election cycle. :(

Cindy will not have a chance in winning Pelosi's seat. It will be a waste of her time (and she is good at that) and decent money.

I'd vote for Sheehan as she is a true patriot not like that traitor Pelosi. All you guys just hate Sheehan because you secretly want to beat your wives.

Considering I'm homosexual...no.

Cindy Sheehan was a figure to be briefly admired, then she ruined it all. She is a one woman disaster area whom the Nazz aptly pointed out, started believing her own press clippings.

I will always admire her for going after Bush, but I cannot countenance her current insanity.

Gingrich should get eaten alive in any Republican primary just based on his personal life, never mind his general ineptitude during his tenure as Speaker. But the Republicans nominated King George the Lesser twice, so they're not exactly known for consistency.

Not likely. The Republicans are in bad shape all across the board, especially the Senate. It's far more likely that Pelosi and Reid will have larger margins to govern with. And the same goes for the Presidential race at the moment.

I can see it going either way. Some strong campaigns against Dem incumbants on the (you elected them to do something and they did nothing) line could get them some seats. Especially if/when we're still in Iraq.

The Dem's have some strong candidates for the Presidency but intense dislike of certain ones could encourage a stronger counter vote.

(Riff to "Black Sabbath" plays)

What is this that stands before me?
Ma-a-rried man which points at me
Turn round quick and start to run
Find out I'm the chosen one
OH NO!

In all seriousness I'd vote for Pelosi. Sheehan seems to be capitalizing on her son's death and has no definite agenda.
