I'm surprised it's so colorful. I'd expect something at that depth to be pale and rather bland looking.

That's pretty cool. A lot of our seas and oceans are still unexplored so there's no telling how many creatures exist that we know nothing off.

I don't think there going far enough, I suggest we install undersea vacuum cleaners to suck the sea bed dry!

Yep red is almost invisible in deep water, so these creatures use it as a camoflage colour.

Of course octopuses can change color (shouldn't that plural be octopi?), it's possible the red coloration is a stress response to try to hide.
