I'm pretty much immune to constant intense action. The bit about the "dead Asian hooker with an SUV shoved up her ass" did make me laught a little.

Yeah, and my friend was there, too.

I gave it 9 out of 10 on the poll.

Well i've gotta go now. But when I return, there better be no more votes below 7... or else.

I gave it an eight out of 10. It's basically what you expect from a Die Hard movie; slightly ridiculous, over-the-top action with a few laughs. This movie delivers exactly that. It's not supposed to be A Beautiful Mind.

It was better than I expected, but my expectations were pretty low. :p

wasn't Kevin Smith in it?

Ugh, If I made fun of a movie title, do you think I'd be casted in one of it's sequels?

Yes, he was. I'm guessing it was a reward for fixing the script. He managed to shine a turd. *nod*

I don't know for certain, but Kevin Smith makes a comfortable living taking other people's screenplays and making them not suck(or at least not suck as much). You'd be surprised how many movies he's had a nearly invisible hand in. Quentin Tarantino used to do that too. I don't know if he still does.

It was a great Summer flik. Funny, the two summer action movies I was looking forward to this summer (Pirates 3 and Spiderman 3) both sucked, but the two I thought would be horrible (Die Hard and Transformers) were most excellent.

I'm pretty much immune to constant intense action.
Then why would you even bother seeing a movie like this?

I'll bust a gut if he had a hand in Transformers after Clerks 2.

Would seeing Die Hard 1-3 first be ideal?

Ideal, perhaps, but not required. There are a few elements that are much funnier if you've seen the previous movies, but I think Die Hard 4 can certainly stand on its own.

Ah, jolly good, ta.
It's just one of those series of films that I've somehow managed to miss completely.

what? So it's not supposed to shite, then? ;)

I enjoyed it. Big dumb action. Silly fun. Totally unrealistic ending. I was wondering how they'd top the finale from DH3 (the ship exploding) and I wasn't disappointed.
What next if they do a DH5 (and considering the box office of 4.0, I'd say they will)? Personally I wouldn't be surprised if they have Bruce escaping a nuclear explosion - where else can they go now?

"Due to overwhelming amounts of violence, the return of a blood-splattered Bruce Willis, and the fact that Bruce Willis' character took out a helicopter with nothing more than a shitty sedan, I give Die Hard 4 three thumbs up."

"But you only have two thumbs..."

*me rips off other guys hand, contorts it into a thumbs up*

"Happy now?"

Shooting down a copter with a sedan sounds like something awesome they would do on Mythbusters.

Too expensive. But I suppose they could do it with a remote controlled junker and a crane with a dangling trashed helicopter.

It'd be fun to see 'em try. They had a Mythbuster marathon yesterday, got to see one I hadn't watched before.

They usually get all of their big stuff donated by fans and for everything else, if it isn't already laying around, Discovery probably has a Mythbusters fund.

They would spend 20 minutes of the show doing a model and trying to figure out the angle and rate of speed needed to get something the weight of a car to high a helicopter so high off the ground, and then doing a small mock up to test it, then go get a cheap car and just dangle something in the air to try and hit it.

1/2 through the movie I suddenly noticed the shirt the main bad guy was wearing was exactly the same one I'd tried on 1/2 hour before I went to the movie. spooky, eh?
It's Spanish cotton/silk blend. I saw it on sale for just $250. I was really keen on buying it, it was such a nice shirt. Unfortunately the biggest shirt still didn't fit me properly around my shoulders and chest. sigh.

The other thing I noticed was Bad Guy #2 (who is shot at the end of the movie by the computer geek) is an ex-porn star. I was trying to figure where I'd seen him before and then noticed his tattoos - specifically the Chinese characters up his forearm. That and the pained expression on his face when he's shot in the foot made me suddenly realise where I'd seen him before.

Why is it that whenever there's a money shot in porn movies, the male actor always looks like he's just had his balls slammed in a car door (or just been shot in the foot)?
