This, of course, is a still photo taken of the highly secret Hazel McCallion Simulacrum developed by CSIS and the Mounties in order to covertly monitor the illicit distribution of imported Canadian-flag cakes in Peel Region.

I was in Canada on Canada Day last year. I've got a Canadian flag on my wall that someone gave me, and a couple of wee lapel pins (that I don't wear, but they're pretty nice).

I think it's "our home and native land", though the entire song seems oddly repetitive and rather banal, kind of like God Bless America. It also has a gender problem with "in all our sons' command". It is a nice tune, and much easier to sing well than the Star Spangled Banner though. I know how to celebrate, everyone sing along with me:

Ô Canada! Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!
Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
Il sait porter la croix!
Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.
Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits;
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

Ah yes, Canada Day. That time of the year where the world gets a little more syrupy, and Canadians at home and abroad find yet another reason to polish off a two-four.

Yay, Dominion Day!

It takes skill, and also luck. Flower pattern optional.

Yeah, that looks like it would be the easiest way to go if you had liquid in bags, but from the looks of it, you'd have to keep cleaning the pitcher. A jug seems easier to me, even if it's probably just out of habit. ;)

Nah… the milk doesn't go in the pitcher. While you pour, the rigidity of the bag is sustained by the Will of God. *spills milk all over self (floor), blasphemes*

Actually, Canada is the only place I've seen it in bags. When I lived in France it came in bottles or boxes.

Most of it does, but you do get that nasty "shelf stable" crap sometimes. What's even worse than normal shelf stable milk is the banana flavored shelf stable milk we received in bulk when I was in Iraq. Disgusting.

Banana flavoured? Sounds like insurgent activity, demoralizing the troops.

The Army is far better at demoralizing the troops than the insurgents ever could be. Check out the pay scale for more details.

I'm working with a fuckload of Canadians right now and they all celebrated Canada Day yesterday. None of them could explain exactly what it celebrated because to an American mind it was supposed to be some kind of independence, confederation didn't seem as cool.

They played their national anthem at lunch, hung flags everywhere, and kept saying 'Happy Day' to each other.

Soo many 'oots' and 'aboots' and 'sorris,' they're the coolest. They even brought a French Canadian.

Awesome. Did they bring steames and poutine to share with everyone? That is the quebec way... (unless of course, they are a northern ontarian french canadian, in which case they will just offer you a beer.)

Oh my fragmented mind is exploding with excellent ideas. Still trying to get the 'beer bag' to work (like a tea bag, only it turns water into beer.)
