Are You a Good Hostess?

Hypothetical situation:
You are a host(ess) for a party at your house. One of the guests, that you know and are on good terms with, is very cold. You, on the other-hand, are very hot!

So, do you turn the temperature so you can cool off, but the poor guest gets really cold.

Do you turn it up, and ignore the heat so your guest will be better?

Or will you not change it at all?

I'll give the guest a sweater to keep warm, while I'll cool off in the air outside.

It's better to make all the hot people feel better, it's a lot harder to cool down than it is to warm up. I would make it colder.

I would ask, out loud if anyone wants the temp changed. I would not say if I am hot or cold, but ask if everything's ok. then I'll take the major concensus. if they want it turned up, then I'll turn it up, if they want it turned down, then I'll turn it down, if they don't want to change the temp, then I won't.

ARE YOU A GOOD HOSTESS?

No, because of the presence of balls coupled with the lack of breasts.

This is why it's vital to put a fake thermostat on your wall and let party guests fiddle with it as they please.

If any guests at a party are moaning about the temperature, you have already failed. They should be passed out on the floor.

Quietly ask a couple people to get a consensus - if it is just that one person, do not make everyone else uncomfortable. If everyone thinks its a bit too cold, then turn the heat up.

If they are cold, you are hot, and everyone else is just fine, then snuggle* until you even out your temperatures.

*definition of snuggle will vary depending on interpersonal dynamics and simply the type of party you are throwing. If 'snuggle' involves latex and lubricant, its my kind of party.

It is in essense, a chocolate covered twinkie. They are only available in the western United States. But some internet entrepreneurs take orders and ship them elsewhere. It's hard to justify at $6-$10 a box. I got a couple boxes as a birthday present last year. :)

I would offer my guest a sweater or other fuzzy warming thing. If I am hot though most likely I am sick and my guest should go home. My normal operating temperature is 96.7-97.2 Fahrenheit. If the situation were reversed though (which is more likely in my situation) and I was cold and everyone else was hot I would turn down the temperature and grab myself a warm fuzzy.

Yeah, I think they have a sort of cult following, judging by what I've seen. :p

I keep it the same.

People who bitch about being cold, when it obviously isn't, are annoying.

Of course, I'd tell them: "Well nobody else seems to be shivering, maybe you should just drink more alcohol?"

Same here. If no one wants the termperature changed, I can offer the guest a pulloaver or a blanket... if they want the temperature up, I guess, I'd take my hand fan (the asia-ish type, why does English lack a word for "Fächer"?)

never been an issue; most of the people at most of my parties are far too drunk to notice temperature issues and if they're not, normally it's informal enough so that people come to a general consensus and turn up the heat or ask me for something warm.

either way, it makes me a terrible hostess: like most guys, i don't look that good in a corset

have the one that is hot chase the cold one around naked. Not only would you solve both problems you would also give something for people to remember. When I was in school we had a neighbor two doors down that had a couple sheep. Often we would drag one of them or both in the house without saying anything. Damn it was funny and people would talk the next days like you wouldn't believe. As a good host I always try to make things interesting.

I was going to say something about not me chasing them around 'cause that wouldn't solve "my" problem feeling hot.

(And seeing that I don't have AC here means I could only turn on the heater - which I sure won't in the middle of the summer.)
