NS Netherlands Meet

The Blaatschapen

So, there are several people willing to meet up in the country of clogs, tulips, windmills, softdrugs, prostitution and spammy NSG posters :p

There are a couple of things to decide though: Location and Date. So, any suggestions?

The Deventer bookmarket and the castlefest festival (Lisse) are held then. Could be interesting, though Deventer-Amsterdam is not ideal.

Aww, I thought we were all going to have a big Germanic get together and conspire to conquer our Romantic neighbours.

It's more fun to invite them and then make fun of their silly accents :p

It's more fun to invite them and then make fun of their silly accents :pNaw, to risque. They might say things like 'Your father was a hamster, and your mother smelt of elderberries'.

Okay, how did these things work with the British NS meets?

Perhaps a small group just set a time/date, and then everyone else was invited. Something like that. It's IMHO a functional way to get things going. If you want to have everyone involved in the discussion on what time/date it should be, the meeting will never happen cause everyone will be too busy discussing the when and where :p

So, my suggestion: keep track of possible time/dates in the first post. In a few days we'll stop gathering options and have a few days for people to say who will show up when and where if it's held then and there. Tally up the totals, and biggest participant list becomes the 'Official' time and date for the first 'Official' NS Meet. (disclaimer: quotes around 'Official' means it's really unofficial but it sounds better if we say it's official :p)

In the British one person takes on the responisbility to organise. All their decisions are final, unless they aren't. They make some pretence that the decision as to where the meet is held is democratic. They then arbitarily set a date and a time to meet and wait for people to complain if they can't make it. It basically works like that.

I might try to make it... *ponders on the easiest/cheapest way to get to the Netherlands from London.

I'd suggest meeting in Utrecht rather than Amsterdam. It's way more central.

Is there anything to do / see there on a particular date?

Meuh. Do we need to see stuff?

When my WoW guild met in Amsterdam we went to see Boom Chicago, which was fun. Maybe something like that? >.>

Seeing stuff is good, especially for folks who have to travel a bit. That way there's more than just a beer and saying 'hi'.

I'm sure anyone travelling would be plannign on seeing stuff outside the meet as well.

I wish I could go but I guess I'll have to wait until 2008 or 2009 for my next trip out that way :(
