Operating system nightmares.

Ever had one of those OS experiences that will haunt you forever? That you dread having to revisit every time a new Windows is release? Then please, let me know, it might make me feel a bit better about my problem.

NETWORKING. On Vista. God. Buying cables, routers, switches, replacing them, recabling, reconnecting, reconfiguring, just to get the damn PC to connect to the internet. Every new Windows, this goddamn nightmare.

Then why get any new Windows?

I'll be upgrading to whatever Linux distro suits me at the time.

Linux can't RUN anything, though. I'm a programmer and a gamer, I need Windows.

Oh yah. I've got it working now.

FOR now. I know we'll buy a new computer or device or something, and it'll be the same damn story in a few months time.

Well, why upgrade in the first place?

I've got XP tamed, I don't need unnecessary 'see-through' menus, or whatever.

Letting my sisters run Windows XP on their system. God that was horrible. They now use Linux (Ubuntu [Dapper]) and I have yet to provide tech support for them.

When I moved to Vista, I plugged in my wireless stick and connected. Vista had drivers for it already. Easier than digging out my CD every time I reinstalled XP.

I also started including wireless drivers too. They are pretty bunch quality wise (they drop the connect frequently) but they can get me on the net long enough to DL the manufacturer's drivers.
