CAIRO, Egypt (AP) -- The mummy of an obese woman, who likely suffered from diabetes and liver cancer, has been identified as that of Queen Hatshepsut, Egypt's most powerful female pharoah, Egyptian archaeologists said Wednesday.

Hatshepsut, who ruled Egypt in the 15th century B.C., was known for dressing like a man and wearing a false beard. But when her rule ended, all traces of her mysteriously disappeared, including her mummy.

Discovered in 1903 in the Valley of the Kings, the mummy was left on site until two months ago, when it was brought to the Cairo Museum for testing, Egypt's antiquities chief Zahi Hawass said.

DNA bone samples taken from the mummy's pelvic bone and femur are being compared with the mummy of Queen Hatshepsut's grandmother, Amos Nefreteri, said molecular geneticist Yehia Zakaria Gad, who was part of Hawass' team.

The mummy identified as Hatshepsut shows an obese woman, who died in her 50s, probably had diabetes and is also believed to have had liver cancer, Hawass said. Her left hand is positioned against her chest, in a traditional sign of royalty in ancient Egypt.

This is how she is portrayed in Civilization IV:

I don't think they care too much considering they put Ghandi in charge of India.

One of my fondest memories of Civ 3 was trouncing the Japanese, Persians, Greeks, and I believe the French as the Indians. Before I played the Japanese for the first time, India was my most successful military campaign.

And I can't seem to keep him from wanting to kill me either...

I like Civ 3 more, myself. Nobody dares challenge the Soviet Union or its devastating military...now I just need to get rid of that damn image of Catherine the Great and I'm set.

He is bloodthirsty. I got him down to his last city, and he still wouldn't give up… yay for Gunships.

What's scary is that he's also one of the hardest nuts I've had to crack. I've thoroughly trounced every militaristic culture in Civ 3, but Gandhi somehow manages to put up the best fight even when outclassed technologically (which is usually the case in my games...:D)

That's why you have to carefully manage the growth of all your cities. I've noticed that a lot of people either just let their cities work the default tiles or they have them work the most productive. You need to keep track of how much population your cities can handle before unrest, and when they reach that limit, set the governor to "no growth" or something along those lines.

I've actually been kicking serious ass as the Egyptians. Spiritual = no anarchy, Industrial = 50% faster Wonder production. I just build up my military to an acceptable level and then start popping out Wonders like crazy. Which also means I get a lot of nice Great People early on.
I usually take over culturally a lot of border cities belonging to my neighbors, then once I've hit an acceptable level of technology just wail on them with tanks, gunships, and Marines.

What, you've never heard of Ghandi's famous British Campaign? He led a horde of Indian Tiger Cavalry into London and burned down the river Thymes, then he went on to fight Godzilla in Berlin and sacked Constantinople.

Well, she may have been attractive to the ancient Egyptians. When I was going to school in France I had a female friend from Sudan and she said that back home it was considered attractive to be rather overweight by Western standards. She said she was going to have to gain a lot of weight before going home because she'd lost 30 pounds while in France and would be considered scrawny amongst the monied upper crust (of which she was a part) and thus unattractive.

Wait, what about Montezuma's Campaign, you know, capturing Mansa Musa's cities, sacking Rome, and capturing Berlin with 10 swordsmen and an axeman?

I can never get people to declare war on me once I reach a point where I wouldn't mind a war or two... usually they'll only pick on me when I've been neglecting my military for a while when it's early in the game and I haven't surpassed them technologically yet.

Also, we're talking about the mummy of a 50 year old woman... maybe when she was younger she wasn't obese.
