...school called cops because a pupil was wearing a pentagram? and they actually showed up?!?! http://www.skeptictank.org/gen1/gen00221.htm
"In early May, Henkel said he and Helenia Mitchell were called into the principal's office, where they faced Brown, an assistant principal and two uniformed police officers. Henkel said Brown accused him and Mitchell of putting up posters promoting Wicca without permission, as required by school policies
Henkel and Mitchell said they denied putting up the posters or that they are Wiccans. But Henkel questioned why the Wicca posters should be removed when posters advertising a Christian missionary's sermon at a local church earlier in the year had been allowed to remain up for weeks.
Henkel contends that when he asked Brown if Christians had more rights to post such materials than non-Christians, the answer was yes"

It's hard to decide which is worse: being the antagonists, or being fed to lions.
What an unpleasant group of people.
I think their should be a "tolerance test" to see if you should be allowed to hold power. For example, if you check "Most Satanists want to burn down churches", or, perhaps, "Wiccans are the same as satanists" or "Christians should have more rights than wiccans" you are prohibited from having any power beyond the level of burger flipper.
I posted a thread about this 6 years ago. Since then, the two kids have become serial killers; The principal was promoted to a high level position in the Bush administration; The officers responding to the scene eventually came out of the closet and married. They now live in Denmark.

good point.

I'd rather the cops realized when someone was clearly reporting something that's not a real threat. "ZOMG! They're wearing a pentagram! THEY'LL MURDER US ALL!!!"
Really, it's even stupider than calling the cops because someone's wearing a long coat. I'm sure that's happened before.

Yes, and in those seven years, we have all become so much more enlightened that no one is ever descriminated against due to having different beliefs. It should be noted that christians especially no longer descriminate against non-christians.
We Satanists (and the Wiccans too, I am sure) are truly grateful that we are now considered to be individual persons, not the child-stealing, animal-sacrificing cultists we were once seen as.

your town must have a very small police force.
they don't have to send out the entire squad to check out a call. all it takes is one cop to take 10 minutes out of his traffic sting operation to check on a call if it was real he would be there longer. if it turns out to be fake depending on where you are it can result in fines and you can rest well knowing the cops are doing their jobs.

Well usually, yes. But 1, the cops remained waiting for the pupil instead of going away when they realised there was no need to be there, and 2, even though they should have came just to check stuff out, I once phoned 112 by accident from a landline phone (i meant to phone 123 - speaking clock) and they didn't show up after I explained.
But then British cops don't seem to have a good track record for showing up at real emergencies either.

It doesn't matter if you have a massive police force - police deal with a lot more incidents than you apparently think (except, as stated above, when you really need them in some cases). Every cop messing about with a ridiculous call is one cop that can't deal with something more important. That's why you learn in school not to make hoax calls to the emergency services.
"Oh, mr. policeman, that woman is wearing pants! She could be concealing a gun! Come here!"

yes, cops have to respond to calls like
"The television program is showing someone being murdered... do something."
"the neighbors Dog is in my yard pooping again."
so even if they ask and are told what the problem is, they still have to go down there.
That's why prank calls to 911 or any emergency services including police, is a serious offense.
Did I say that the officers were needed? no. but they still have to respond.
Did I say the principal was right? no. he wasn't.
and multiland, any sensible cop would still go when called. because if anything goes wrong, the Police cannot be sued for ciminal negligence because they didn't respond to that call. It's only the stupid ones that won't go because they 'think' that the situation doesn't warrent an officer's presence baised only by what they hear.

I'm not saying that cops shouldn't respond to calls. I'm saying that 1, they shouldn't respond to ones that are OBVIOUSLY a load of bollocks (green people who've came alive from plasticine and are now from outer space and made of apples... if it was "aliens" are attacking me then it would be dif - the person could be confused, or maybe they really are aliens) and that 2, if they do feel the need to respond, when they are faced with a load of bollocks they should stop dealing with the non-incident
Don't think so there.
Except I spoke to that officer who was sent there. He couldn't believe it and ended up telling her "we'll investigate it Ma'am." just to get out of there. He ended up telling her that it was recorded from another country and so it's their jurisdiction and their police would handle it.

Not a huge suprise. My school chose the same route, but banned the Christian stuff too. They tried to make a Christian club by calling in the Body of Beleivers, but when a couple students who professed beleif in the Flying Spaghetti Monster attended, and were kicked out, the school closed the club.
I deny all responsibility for the aforementioned prank. I was merely along for the ride...
Quick question: Why doesn't this kind of crap come out in the news more often? I SERIOUSLY doubt it's because "it doesn't happen", because I'm fairly sure that it DOES.
