Most of Bush's dumb moments can be passed off as misspeaking. Are you kidding me? His 'misspeakings' are so common that it's the stuff of legends. It's resulted in the term 'Bushism' being added to our language. And it still doesn't explain his trying to open closed doors, that deer in the headlights look he gets or his tendancy to fall off his bike.

Quayle was blooperish enough that it wasn't long before anything stupid anyone said was attributed to him, and then stupider stuff that made fun of the stupid things he said were attributed to him.

But ultimately, Quayle never got into any position of real power for us to find out exactly how dumb he really was. So we'll never really know.Though this is all from a distance, I'm sure they wouldn't seem as stupid in person. Or maybe they would...I don't know...
