Which Boy Band was the Worst?

Which of all the boy bands could be considered the worst? Though they all sucked, which sucked most? I mean in terms of the stupid dances, the singing, the music, everything: Who was worst?

A1 - for their craptacular and blasphemous cover of A-ha's "Take on Me". (http://youtube.com/watch?v=sj4ee-RuAjI)

Ugh, even after all these years, it makes me twitch.

98 Degrees? I don't know, I never actually heard them, the only reason I know anything about them is because one of those toolboxes married that other toolbox and they had a tv show about what tools they where.

I think.

I don't know, man, they're pretty interchangeable to me. I really shouldn't have posted...

I'm gonna have to say every single one of them since 'The Bay City Rollers' hung up their tartan!

I don't know, man. I wouldn't necessarily put BoyzIIMen or New Edition on the same level as New Kids On the Block or Color Me Badd.

Though I have a real answer, now that I think about it.

O-Town, because it was a fundamental shift. We had already gotten to a point where we would tacitly accept a 'constructed' band. We knew that they existed from all the way back, but at the very least there had to be the illusion that the bands formed organically in some way. The rise of the boy bands that happened giving us Backstreet Boys and N*SYNC did away with that, and the final nail in that coffin was that not only would there be a constructed band, but that they could sell 'you' (the boy band consumer) the construction of that band. It was that last moment of crassness that really bothered me about the boy bands, it wasn't so much that I didn't like the music, I don't like lots of music that doesn't automatically mean it angers me, but the naked commodity of it was just too much.

I guess it's not really that much worse than selling me a commodity and pretending your not, but meh...

The music isn't a complete disaster, but the video is such that anybody with a cheese allergy would be stone cold dead by the time in finished.

Whichever one came first and made the concept popular. If I ever determine for certain which one it was, the weasels shall be set loose! :p

You mean The Beatles?

The beatles wrote music and played instruments.

No. Not them. The first to be just prettyboys with not entirely obscene voices that were gathered together by producers to swindle teen and tween girls out of their parents' money.

Menudo is a contender. *nod*

Ringo Starr is a weasel already so releasing his own kind would have little effect.

Time for a Ringo quote for the man was a genius of insight:

“America: It's like Britain, only with buttons.”

You know he's going to be the last surviving Beatle, right? It's his destiny. :(

What do you think that ringmeister meant by that? Buttons as in the things you push, or the things on American style jean flies, of like the American word for badges?

Ummm it seems he is like an oinion, he has layers!

To understand Ringo would require more drugs than he's done. That would kill you. Only Keith Richards understands Ringo Starr. *nod*

He was the last into the Beatles, he will be the last out of life - so it is and so it shall be done.

To be serious for a brief moment - I think he meant...'but with bells on', as in it's mostly the same but some extras thrown in.

Yet as stated already, who knows what the man meant.

A1's video was so much more deliciously stupid, though.

My disgust is limited to the Backstreet Boys, because they were the only ones I ever had any real exposure to.

I'm sorry, but I was under the impression that every boy band was the exact same people, only with different bodies.

Also, I would argue that some of the female pop singers are infinitely worse than the boy bands.

Which Boy Band was the Worst?

All of them. All of them who were cheesy manufactured pop acts, who couldn't actually sing, had crappy choreography, and really weren't as hot as everyone said.
