If you could donate a sizeable amount of money to any charity...

What would it be?

I'd donate to NFL Europe personally. :p

In all seriousness, I'd probably donate to alternative fuel research or something of that nature.

Does it have to be a charitable organisation or do I just have to give the money away in a charitable fashion?

A charity, just giving it away wouldn't be any fun for the purpose of this thread.

St. Jude's Childrens Hospital. They do fantastic work trying to save kids with cancer, and at no cost to the parents. Thank you Danny Thomas for founding it.

Redwings Horse Sanctuary, or the other general-purpose animal sanctuary whose name currently slips my mind.

Or perhaps a research organisation of something I'm interested in.

I'd donate to open source projects, and, if the amount was sizable enough, hire developers to work on things I feel are missing or needs improving. That's almost like charity, so I can do that, right?

Probably to an organization funding research in to cancer and Alzheimers (as well as aging in general, but you've got to tackle the major problems before you can focus on the less important issues).

I'd contribute to a little-known, local charity called the "Buy Fiddlebottoms A New Chair And Possibly Some Beer Fund."

I know of a similar one I try to donate to regularly. :)

Yeah, except I just forget about the chair and blow it all on beer.

I suppose i'd just give it to the Anthony Nolan Trust since I already train clinic counsellors for them anyway and can trust them a bit more. In general though i'm not a big fan of giving money to charity organisations if I can give straight to those who need it

I would make my own charity, and have an amusement park and call it Smunkeeville!

I guess I would give to either the local homeless soup kitchen I am involved in or the sponsor an african kid thing that my mother and I do together.

Maybe something for the lifeboats.
