Mobile phones better than sex
Oh dear. (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070622/od_uk_nm/oukoe_uk_mobile_survey;_ylt=AufuWOIF2m1POIfC1jxisu3tiBIF)
One in three people would not sacrifice their mobile phone for one million pounds or more
Seriously? Really, seriously? I might expect these statistics if they polled a forum dedicated to the damned things, I suppose.
Um, random poll. Because that's what I do.

...so if I give up my phone I get sex right?
then again I never use the money stealing things:p
I'd sacrifice my cellular phone for 1,000,000 pounds. Shit I'd just buy a new one...
Yeah, I don't know what people would do if they lost their cell and were forced to find a landline.
And not give up your phone for that kind of money? Why the hell not?

My cell phone isn't very good and is about three years old, but I never want to have sex anyway, so it's not really a sacrifice.

sex would be easier seeing as i get none anyway.

Could still give it up for the money. :)
A million pounds for my phone? What's the catch?

At the time of writing, the poll indicates that people would rather give up sex & their mobile over NSG.

well if I gave up my phone, I wouldn't be able to leave my room cause I'm always on call... hence I wouldn't be able to have sex...

I'd imagine that the idea is that you give them up, as in not have a cell phone.
I'd do it in a heartbeat if I had a phone to give up. I hate the damned things.

But is this "one's own mobile phone," or is it the right to ever own a mobile phone. I'd give up either for a million dollars. With a million dollars, prudently invested, I'd be home to answer the phone.

Indeed. According to my currency converter, that comes out to 2,138,808 Canadian dollars. I could probably live the rest of my life with that, which is certainly worth giving up my mobile for.

I bet Churchill is turning over in his grave.
No-one calls me anyways, so I'd have no problem giving it up. Especially in favor of money and/or sex.

Right. But you don't get to choose what sort of sex, nor who with.
For a million pounds? I'd give up my mobile. That's a lifetime of financial security right there.

why not quote the whole article?
One in three people would not sacrifice their mobile phone for one million pounds or more, with women leading the way on those most likely to refuse, the survey by the Carphone Warehouse and the London School of Economics found.
Most respondents aged between 16 and 24 would rather give up alcohol, chocolate, sex, tea, or coffee than live without their mobile phone for a month.
In contrast, more than 40 percent of the those aged over 45 would give the phone simply to be able to have their favourite hot drink.
im right there with my fellow oldsters. i wouldnt give up coffee to keep my phone.
so anyway. its only a month, its not like booze and food are more important than keeping in contact with friends, family and the world.
i think the article's title should have been "sex not as good as cell phones". maybe it just means that young people have crappy sex.
as to the million pounds....well its very easy to SAY that you would pass it up. it might be quite a different thing if you handed those women a briefcase of cash.

If they think the phone is better than sex, then they haven't had the right partner.
For $2 million? Hell yeah I'd ditch it. I'll just buy a Blackberry instead.

Hmm, it would have to be NSG, I'm afraid :(
I mean, don't get me wrong... I'm getting to like a few of the personalities on here, and some of the debates are at least worth reading, if not actually participating in, but in the grand scheme of Internet forum vs contact with the outside world I didn't have to think about it for long...
...and that's before even considering the 'no sex' dealbreaker.
