Pakistan students storm 'brothel'

Students from a radical mosque in Pakistan's capital Islamabad have abducted a group of people, including women, accusing them of prostitution.

The students, who were reportedly armed with batons, raided a house in a residential part of the city which they said was a brothel.

There are reports that some of those abducted are Chinese nationals.

so some fundies attack a place they suspect as being a brothel, not really news but it does highlight an issue with Pakistan's school system and religious schools in general

so what do you think about religious schools? is the Pakistani government (one which has nuclear arms) ruled by extremist groups? who can think up more witty comments on this? another nuclear reactor?! (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/6231468.stm)

You do realize right that Musharaf encourages (some even believe funds) these kind of groups to run amok so he can go to the West and say 'See what will happen if my military rule goes, you'll have another Taliban!', the fundies are the just the juntas all purpose bogeyman to maintain an iron grip on power, Musharaf would only have to click his fingers and this kind of thing would be put down swiftly, the nuclear weapons factor just intensifies this fear politics.

Of course it also means Pervy has to watch over his shoulder to make sure his own creations don't blow the shit out of him. He had what, like 13 assassination attempts on him in a year?

Well I find this whole thing rather hypocritical when the US speaks of stopping 'terrorism', and finds costly distractions in Iraq while ignoring the fact that Osama is almost definitely in Waziristan with the Taliban, yet the US doesn't seem too interested in him anymore. I mean Clinton came closer to getting him.

He had 2 during his tenure and there are allegations that both were staged.

Let's not make him a martyr. He was and still is a part of the problem and so far he has not done anything more than what is necessary to keep himself in power.

The idea that Musharraf has turned his back on islamists is largely a Bush admin wishful thinking that has little basis in ground reality.

I ain't buying it.

I am impressed. :)

The lal masjid head honchos were a creation of Pak intel and this is all a show to keep the religiously moderate middle and upper class Pakistanis to support Musharraf's "re-election".

Reg the other nuclear reactor, I don't believe it...seeing that it comes from David Albright - a known non proliferation ayotullah.

I still maintain they look like the Knights of Ni, or a convention of Sith.

Or a combination of the two groups.

Never admired the man. If anything, the islamists trying to kill him has insured that the U.S. has to watch Pervy's back and do pretty much whatever he wants unless they want to see Iran 2: The Revenge.

He's just a pet dictator who figured out how to keep the U.S. from seeing him as disposable and invading him under the pretense of "liberating" the Pakistani people.

They have since been released. Apparently the kidnappers were told by police that there would be investigations into these "bath houses" that allow both males and females. That is what I heard on CNN anyway. There is an article I didn't read here (http://voanews.com/english/2007-06-23-voa19.cfm).

Of course it is. Even though it's consensual, prostitution is WAY worse because it's (st)icky sex and the boogey man will beat you with a death stick if you have t3h seX0rz!

I'm sorry, but I had to. I'm sick of it

No, I'd imagine that they can't look at a bikini without getting a hard-on, and are not mature enough to handle it. Yay for religious extremism and repression!
