There IS a spot in the general area that works about the same as for guys, pain-wise. As a small kid, I brought down someone twice my age by hitting the proper spot on a fluke. It was glorious! One second she was laughing at me, and in the next eyeblink she was totally pwned.
(Yes I'm female, too.)
Edited to add: I'd take the kick. That pain ends in a few minutes.
