Alberta wants to be the lamest province in Canada

Some dude from the legislator brought up the idea of raising the legal age in Alberta to 19 (from 18). I was all like, "Wow, what a douche," when I first heard this on the radio. Then people started calling in supporting the idea and suggesting that they raise it all the way to 21. Now I was like "Shit I hope this takes a few months, I don't want to have to get a fake ID."

So what is your opinion.

I think you should beat the shit out of some 18 year old drunks before they ruin a good thing for you. :)

Edit: This thread is MINE!!! You must be 21 or older to post here. *nod*

My opinion, although off-topic, is that it's ridiculous that (in Ontario) you can get a driver's license at about 16, but can't vote until 18... for two years you're trusted with the lives of other people on the road, but can't have a say in the governance of your country... (sigh)

Renting a carpet-vac, I think.

I think that parents can be trusted not to let their offspring rent a carpet-vac until they feel their children are ready for it.

Edit: Yes. I have completed my time machine, and have travelled back in time to quote you before you posted.

At 18 you can serve in the armed forces, vote, drive and be legally responsible for anything and everything you do. I always ask why drinking is any different.

It's fine in BC to have the drinking age at 19...everyone smokes pot to make up for it. But here? Come on now. We've got every reason to drink ourselves to oblivion, and the money to do it, SO DON'T YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT RAISING THE DRINKING AGE YOU BASTARDS!

Then again, I'm safely over the suggested age, so screw you young'uns.

Also, allot of places don't ID people, and police only confiscate alcohol from minors when they need to have a party after work (they'll usually ask you to stop drinking until you are out of their sight).

The fact that Alberta has money was one of the reasons for raising it (you guys do know that the people in the other provinces have money too, and build their own houses[except Newfoundland]).

Do politicians have flip cards of issues that they randomly pick out now and again just to make some news?

I mean, what hell of a difference does it make to change it from 18 to 19?

It seems to me that they're just bored, haven't had anything to say for a while so they just go for a hot-button issue as is their wont.

I'd rather go back to BC. Quebec is out of the question as I took French in BC and only learned how to belittle Quebec and bitch about how we should be learning something useful like Mandarin, and just no to Manitoba.

Personally i don't agree with agism, but obviously the age restrictions are an attempt to create cultural divisions. Afterall who is going to pay for the alcohol, what is the social fall out? LSD is usually way cheaper than a mickey what exactly are you trying to do. With 500000 tons of dope, why do people need to drink? My gosh growing is way easier then fermenting.

Anyway I don't drink but if I did and was a teen I'd definately need to find a friend with an older brother or sister I could give sexual favours or pay a premium, atleast that way I could always find an easier gateway to cocaine with my morally decrepit saviour suplier.
