Faith Poll
New Limacon
19-06-2007, 20:05
Despite the amount of buzz there is about religion on this forum, I don't think I've seen an inventory of who's what. This is just to find out the general demographics. If you would like to leave a reply explaining your answer, or your conversion experience, or why we should all worship Athe, the Great Un-God, go ahead. But you don't have to.
Some of the less common religions (and philosophies) I did not put in the poll, because I was afraid people would treat those as joke choices, and everyone would be a Scientologist. However, I mean no disrespect, and if your faith isn't on the list, leave it as a reply.
I can only have ten options. If you do not see your choice on the list, it is because it would not fit. Please stop asking why it isn't on the list. This is why.

Yes, that's what I said. The maximum choices for a poll this forum allows is ten, thus, there are ten choices. And although I am sure there have been dozens, I have never seen any in the past seventy-odd days I have been here.

There's Orthodox Christians, and then some Churches like the Polish National Church which is mostly Catholic but different somehow... Catholic and Protestant are the big ones, I used the "other Christians" option so I wouldn't waste more space than I needed.

How about, instead of using the irrelevant "non-religious" choice, you just split it up between the four main christian divisions? RC, Prot, Ortho, Anglican.

Well, it's too late to change the poll anyway, but even if I could I think it's fine. Plenty of people think there is a God who had a son Jesus, but don't go past that point or just don't find belonging to a specific religion necessary. It's the same for other faiths.

All belief in the biblical god is based on, well, the bible. There is no other source for that belief system. There never has been.
And how does logic support the existence of the biblical god?
The same way logic explains the wind. You can't physically see wind, just as you cannot see God. However, you know wind exists, because you can see it at work, or physically feel it. The same is with God. You might not be able to see Him, but you can feel His presence, and see His work via His creation.
Now you might say, "Why can't I feel it?" Well, I see atheists and other non-theists as people who are inside, and can't feel that the wind (presence of God), because of their shell.

On the contrary my friend. I have expanded my horizons, which is why I am not a Baptist or even a protestant anymore. I seek to return to the originality of the message, which survives the test of time.

I watch the news quite often. That's what makes it faith; an ability to watch the news and still think there is hope for humans. Society is flawed, and therefore highlighting our flaws as animals. If we can organise society to highlight our strengths, things can work out for us.

I consider myself an agnostic theist. By its very nature, the existence of a supreme being cannot be proven nor disproven but I choose to believe in a supreme being anyway. It is not the Judeo-Christian God of the bible that hands out rewards and punshments as He sees fit, but rather closer to a cosmic force without the anthromorphic attributes found in western religions.
