Vatican Issues New Commandments

The Vatican loves nothing more than to tell people how to live their lives, and this is no exception. Today's target of choice... drivers!
The Vatican has introduced a new set of commandments. Unlike the traditional ones, these focus on the road and the driver. It follows the same base concept of the original commandments, except it's geared towards the road and being... *gasp* courteous to other people on the road and not acting like a bald-face arsewipe.
1. You shall not kill.
2. The road shall be for you a means of communion between people and not of mortal harm.
3. Courtesy, uprightness and prudence will help you deal with unforeseen events.
4. Be charitable and help your neighbor in need, especially victims of accidents.
5. Cars shall not be for you an expression of power and domination, and an occasion of sin.
6. Charitably convince the young and not so young not to drive when they are not in a fitting condition to do so.
7. Support the families of accident victims.
8. Bring guilty motorists and their victims together, at the appropriate time, so that they can undergo the liberating experience of forgiveness.
9. On the road, protect the more vulnerable party.
10. Feel responsible toward others.

9. On the road, protect the more vulnerable party.
So, in other words, avoid drivers with only third party insurance?

If it is real, and makes just one person think more rationally or be more caring when driving then yay.

Well...yes, that's kinda their job. Those darn preachers! Always so preachy!
As for the commandments themselves, they make sense. I don't know if there is any biblical basis, but common sense wise they fit.

I was joking, you know. :p
It's a set of guidelines on how to be a responsible driver...sounds like a good idea to me given how atrociously most people drive. If this could cause even one rude person out there to stop tailgating or speeding, or prevent one person from driving drunk, it would be well worth it. Frankly, it's a really good idea because a lot of people belong to the Church, and a good number of them would listen to what the Pope says in regards to moral issues.
Nobody has a right to put others' lives in danger with their driving habits, so I definitely applaud the Church for telling people how to live their lives when they are in a car.

what, it sounds sensible for the most part. but you're going to buck against it just because a church put this out?

It's a good idea, yet people dislike it because it comes from the church? That's sounds pretty unfairly prejudiced, and downright idiotic.

EDIT: And, in any case, what the hell is wrong with asking people to be courteous on the road, and not run people over?

Cars kill more people than guns. Using that logic, if we ban guns, we should ban cars. And swimming pools.

These are in every driver's handbook I've ever read. And probably in a few I haven't read. So why does the fact that the Pope issued them make them more (or less) valid?
I never said it made them any more or less valid. I'm just being a jackass. What? I can't be a jackass now? :(

The Pope is too liberal for Polish government ;)
I notice it doesn't cover sex in the back of a moving car. No guidelines, if you should put "cruise control" on first, etc, etc. The Vatican is being socially irresponsible by failing not to cover these things.

I think it mentions something about not using cars for immoral purposes.

i object to the singling out of younger drivers in commandement 6. every driver i know with a drink-driving conviction is over 50.
It seems to me its basically the rule sof the road interpretted biblically mixed with common sense... interpretted biblically.
Thou shalt not use thine car to compensate for thine minuscule genitals.
Totally siggable. >_<
Then again if I sigged every siggable thing Iffy said on a daily basis, my sig would not only be removed entirely, but I'd be banned from the internet because its size would no doubt creep into the bandwidth of other sites.
Thou shalt not use thine car to compensate for thine minuscule genitals.
