Translated from Dutch news articles:

On Friday night, on a carpooling spot near a small town in the Netherlands, several people spotted a tied-up and blindfolded pantsless man being forced into the trunk of a car by a woman.

One of these bystanders called the police, which suspected a kidnapping had taken place. They then eagerly cordoned off all the surroundings for a thorough inquiry. They found a roll of ductape in another car, which had been left behind at the carpooling spot. The police then began to track down the car using the number on the plate.

When they found the vehicle, parked in Amsterdam, the man and woman both told the police it was only part of an erotic game.

The police released a statement saying that all the costs of the police action will have to be paid by the couple.

Am I the only one to find this terribly unfair? They didn't break any laws, did they?

It's questionable because they police didn't hear the conversation and they were only seeing it from a distance. But they should have asked both parties before making arrests.

They didn't arrest anyone. They're just sending on the bill.

Why? That's stupid. They were doing their job. The people didn't break the law since it was consensual. What's next, sending a person a bill after you respond to a burglar alarm? "thanks for using the Dutch police. Here's your bill."

It is kind of unfair.

But then again it's not OMG TERRIBLE.

I mean. You're a police officer. You see one person, tied up, being forced into a car trunk. How'd you know it's a game?

Of course, sending them the bill... that's just mean.

This just reminds of Jennifer Government and the 'Welcome to Nike Ambulance service, please enter your credit card number and a car will be dispatched to you.' Sickening.

Well it's not that they've denied these people police service.

If anything they've had too much of it.

Yes, but its not like they asked for it. If they wanted to charge anyone it should be the bystander that called them out unnecesarily. Although, I wasn't aware that the police could charge for this kind of incident, the bystander was legitemately worried by the events and the people doing them were not doing anything illegal.
