So long as they can, in fact, act. :)

Yes. I very much appreciate a good acting performance. I see pretty much every well-reviewed movie that comes out in theatres and I'm slowly but surely working my way though the classics on DVD. They're not all easy to get ahold of. I really need to get around to getting a credit card so I can check out that whole Net-Flix thing.

It's fairly choice.

I have a love hate thing with actors, but that's because I'm a playwright and I need them in order for my work to be anything other than that thing I did, but I can't stand next to them with a cattle prod and make them say the right words.

What they do to a work is really quite remarkable, actually. You only need to see truly bad acting to understand what good acting can do for a script. And since playwrighting/screenwriting is kind of the lazy writing (I can't bring this text to life, you do it.), they really are necessary, and it can be cool to watch.

I could live without most actors; at least without film actors; we need stage performers still.

Stage (or any kind of live performance) acting takes talent; more talent than with a film because there is pressure to perform and you've got to do it well. Film you get to do many, many takes...

No matter what piece off dross they happen to be starring in at that time, there's nothing so enjoyable as watching a good Shakespearian actor like your Jacobis or Mckellans really going to town with the part, hamming it up and having a good time.

Whoever says Screenwriting is a lazy form of writing clearly hasn't written a screenplay.

as for actors, dependes, if they are just annoying morons like Tom Cruise or Paris Hitlon then no, but if they are Actors that act and don't make complete fools out of themselves then I like them

As an aspiring actor I should like other actors but to be honest a lot of them are not very great people.

He hasn't really been in anything great yet, well, one thing that has the potential to be great but could also be really really bad, can't tell until I see it because watching them film it has absolutely nothing to do with the finished product, found that out with his last film, the concept was great, the acting was great, the editing was crap........which ruined my viewing experience.

In other words, the MPAA saw it and made recommendations about that should be 'edited' and the production/editing crew made the cuts that fucked over the film.

actually no. It was an independent film (which most people don't count as "real movies" but I will get into that rant another time) and they cut out some scenes that I felt should have been left in, but I am way over critical. Also, the camera guy was teh suck apparently because he cut off hubby's head like twice, caught the boom mike like 4 times and shook like he was coming down off a crack binge.
