Out of curiosity I was wondering what would you do to deal with rouge states like North Korea and Iran which obviously threaten world stability..if you were say leader of a country like the USA, UK, China, Japan, or Russia..or even France and Germany....?

from a western standpoint I would put pressure on China and Russia to not aid Iran or NK with money, equipment, personnel etc etc..by offering China and Russia economic incentives to do so..also imposing very harsh sanctions onto Iran and NK...

From a Chinese Russian standpoint...I would try and work the west into giving me incentives..and use some economic bullying to get Iran and NK to listen to reason..possibly even consider assassinating their leadership at some point if all other methods failed...

Convince China and Russia to see that they are problem children and then get them to help me invade!

as long as they stay in there own borders nothing, though I wouldn't go around calling Iran a rouge state or a member of the axis of evil...

Frankly, I would lift the embargo on Iran in order to bring in trade and investment from the West, especially the US, which would help revitalize their economy, bring in foreign expatriates and foreign ideas, and thereby weaken the control that the extremists have on the country. This would also strip them of their propaganda and their siege mentality, redirecting public opinion to the real source of Iran's problems and ideally causing them to collapse.

Also, increased Iranian oil production due to more foreign investment would provide a better source for China's energy needs, perhaps resulting in them reducing their ties to the Sudan and getting them on board to really fight the genocide in that nation. In regard to North Korea, I would do the same thing; negotiate with them to provide food and energy aid in exchange for disarmament and opening of their economy to foreign investment and trade..

What's a rouge state? Is it like a red state?

Well then..what would you call them...NK starves and brutalizes its own people..while threatening those around it...and Iran calls for the destruction of a sovereign state...as well as supporting global terrorism...so you would just leave them alone...well I dont know what you would call them..."Hazardous" states?..or disruptive states?..

Rogue state is appropriate. Although I would personally say North Korea is much more of a rogue state than Iran, relatively speaking. At the very least, Iran has the mechanisms by which real reform could occur, while North Korea is pretty much trapped in its current position and can only change at a snail's pace.

Yeah, the people would love the economic upswing from the west, the tourism in both directions and all the fun gadgets like camera phones and Internet so once an oppressive government opens up trade their people won't let them go back. When some of their people go on vacation or university education in the west they will come home and tell their friends how free life could be. When the people is wearing cellphones with cameras all the time the government can't cover-up and put a lid on things. When the people have Internet access the government's censorship will be leaking because censorship evaders on darknets will be just as impossible to stop there as pirates on p2p nets have proved to be here in the west. They won't be able to stop the truth from defeating the propaganda they use to keep the people content so reform eventually becomes the inevitable result of free trade.

Well one..calls for the destruction of an entire state..they both have been tied to criminal organizations (the governments of both states that is)...they both oppress their people and threaten harmful actions against other nations..I could go on and on...

I see you have little insight into the chinese viewpoint, the chinese view on which countries threaten world stability, trade, economic growth, etc.

Why would they want to do what you suggest?

well of course I have little insight on the chinese viewpoint I'm not from china..and I haven't studied eastern philosophies etc as much as I have looked into the west or Russian ideals..I'm talking about if I was in charge of China it would be a more western friendly china....I just thought the whole thing of how people would deal with Iran and NK..would be an interesting conversation

I would target rogue leaders for assasination - if someone just as bad takes over they are next. If they go into hiding I take out the people carrying out their orders. Eventually the message will be gotten.
