What did he do to lose it? Or was it just election season up in the Frozen North? :p
Who's Ralph Klein?
He was the Premiere of Alberta, Canada for about 10 years.

Bi-election.

So...Ralph Klein...Alberta MP...
...
Care to give us at least a little bit of info? If he was a provincial MP, he's not going to be well known. It'd be like me invoking a state senator and expecting everyone to know who she is.

Take THAT you fucking idiot! Mr. "we never really had a plan" moneybucks, passing out 'prosperity cheques' in order to buy votes...
Oh I hope it stings.
The sad part is? He set himself up well as a 'consultant' while he was premier. It's doubtful he gives a flying fuck.

No, Ralph Klein (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ralph_Klein), Premier of Alberta for 14 years.

He was premiere for 10 years and his general strategy was "let the oil companies solve all our problems".

I was expecting you to have this thread up yesterday. I mean this guy was about two followers away from being a full religion instead of some silly cult of personality.

Ah, King Ralph. I've hated him for so long, I hardly know what to do with myself now!

I haven't watched TV since the playoffs, and then I only watched the playoffs. But this shit has been announced on every radio station between every song. How could you miss that?
Off topic question for Neesika: In BC, after 12 hours of work you get double time, does the same hold true in Alberta? If so, I just made $150 over three hours.

I don't own a radio.

Yes, it's the same. And it's freakin' sweet, unless they make you bank your hours.

The union would flip the fuck out, and this mine would lose all of it's employees. Seeing as they are looking to hire 1100 new employees by March it would be a rather unwise move.

Oh and Oh. Thank you kindly. You'll forgive me my assumption that he was an MP, what with the comment about the legislature.
So, basically, his resignation has caused Neesika to celebrate, and whatever makes Neesika celebrate is--on the whole--a Good Thing. So...

Bag licker.
Bag licker.
I question the wisdom of this statement.
First, it presumes I would be interested in licking bags of any sort, which I am not, be they plastic shopping bags, paper lunch bags, or--the bags you are most likely referring to--the scrotum containing the testes of a male.
Secondly, I question why--even if I was interested in licking Neesika's bag--I would be allowed to do so by Neesika, who I presume is choosy in her choice of mates.
Thirdly, Neesika is female and thus does not have a bag to lick.
Fourthly, this is a flame, and flaming is not wise.
Therefore, I pronounce your statement as flawed and dismiss it as such.

I enjoy taking statements like yours and blowing them out of proportion. It amuses me.
But I am not exactly a suck-up, so to speak. I simply share similiar views with Neesika and, therefore, on matters where she has an opinion and I am not as educated as I would need to be in order to form an informed opinion, my opinion would most likely concur with hers. Not always, as noted in my post, since we do disagree on a few issues, but that's mostly general quibbling of sorts.

Well now I'm interested...on what points do we quibble?
Well now I'm interested...on what points do we quibble?
Well, I can't be entirely certain--mainly because I don't know every single last aspect of your political views--but I think I am more liberal on social issues(about as liberals you can get period on them, actually)--and we probably differ slightly when it comes to economical issues(I suspect I am slightly more right-winged than you are here.)
But it would mostly be specific cases, like the extent of criminals to rehabilitate, or how much this company or that company should be allowed to affect the environment, and so on and so forth.
So basically, I don't know where we would quibble; I only have a general idea, actually.

Can you think of any examples though, of a general feeling on a social issue that you think I'd be more conservative on? It's interesting to see how I come across.

Well, a perfect example I can think of involves paedophilia. From what I've seen of your opinions of it, you feel that all paedophiles are a dangerous menace and should be thusly locked up. I, on the other hand, would be more than willing to rehabilitate and otherwise help them cure their mental illness so they can live happy, normal lives.
In fact, I'm willing to do that for every single criminal, no matter what the crime. I'd take Hitler or Stalin themselves and rehabilitate them if I could. While I suspect you are similiar in this regard, I'm not sure if you'd go as far as I would, hence my suspicion that we differ.
Well sheesh...not giving me any clues here, when you're not telling me what you think on these things...
Okay, I'll pull another example out of my hat: nuclear fission. I am wholly in favour of a large number of new nuclear power plants--as a stopgap measure--to give us the time to research new methods of large-scale power generation with the power capability of oil. Obviously, this would create radioactive waste, but I feel that technology has advanced to the point where this is not as much of a problem as it once was, and is a necessary price to pay for our continued lifestyle.
Whereas I suspect you are a staunch anti-nuclear type person. I only suspect based on what I've seen of your posts.
Well...I've got an hour :D

Ralph Klein...
"Alberta's premier blew a gasket in the Legislature yesterday, hurling a Liberal health-care book three metres at the schoolgirl page who delivered it to him."

Belinda Stromach apparently had a relationship with a Conserative and in reference to the relationship he said:
"I wasn't surprised that she crossed over to the Liberals. I don't think she ever did have a Conservative bone[get it?] in her body. Well, maybe one."
He also apparently threatened to have profs fired if they didn't say that he was a good student after he was caught plagarising.

The man who stumbled into the homeless shelter late at night was well dressed, and had obviously indulged in too much Christmas cheer. Slurring his words, he got into an argument with the residents, demanding to know why they were unemployed.
Just another drunken rightwing jerk? Actually, it was Ralph Klein, the premier of the Alberta, dropping by for an unofficial visit on his way home from a party.
Such boorish behaviour would have cost any other politician in Canada their job, but not Mr Klein, or Ralph, as his fellow Albertans call him. He has made his career - first as the mayor of Calgary, then as premier for three terms - by being an ordinary guy, a man of the people.
Voters in Alberta see Mr Klein as the kind of fellow they could sit down and have a drink with. In the rest of country, he is seen as a bit of a buffoon. He actually ran his mayoral campaign from the St Louis hotel bar, and the bar's owners had mugs made up with is picture on it that were known as Klein Steins. After he won, he continued to keep "office hours" at the tavern."http://www.guardian.co.uk/elsewhere/journalist/story/0,7792,625363,00.html
His solution to improve healthcare was demolish hospitals. He has given extremely little money to schools and did absolutely no planning.

Aha! Excellent! It's true. I violate my own beliefs with my particular reaction to paedophilia. I know it's a contradiction, but hey, we're all hypocrites sometimes.
Would I ACTUALLY support locking up a paedophile, who has not sexually abused a child? No, I wouldn't. But I'd like to think I would.
No, I agree. I'm also a huge proponent of restorative justice.

Whereas I am of the opinion that our continued lifestyle isn't something we need to work so hard to maintain. Roll back people! From uranium mining on down the line, I oppose nuclear energy for environmental reasons. I don't think it would be stop-gap measure, frankly.
Whereas I suspect you are a staunch anti-nuclear type person. I only suspect based on what I've seen of your posts. Your suspicions are good! I'm impressed!
Aha! Excellent! It's true. I violate my own beliefs with my particular reaction to paedophilia. I know it's a contradiction, but hey, we're all hypocrites sometimes.
I'm sure we all have our breaking points on one specific issue. I honestly can't think of one for me, but I know I have one.
Would I ACTUALLY support locking up a paedophile, who has not sexually abused a child? No, I wouldn't. But I'd like to think I would.
And I would point out that paedophile simply has a mental illness like psychopathy or sociopathy, but this is not the place nor the time to discuss such a matter.
No, I agree. I'm also a huge proponent of restorative justice.
Oh, goodie.
Whereas I am of the opinion that our continued lifestyle isn't something we need to work so hard to maintain. Roll back people! From uranium mining on down the line, I oppose nuclear energy for environmental reasons. I don't think it would be stop-gap measure, frankly.
Aye, there are definite aspects about the general lifestyle that I would like to see changed, such as an overreliance upon large vehicles and the urban sprawl that accompanies such reliance, or the excess of food waste, or a lot of what is put into food--artificial flavours, colours, and what have you.
On that same token, I also recognize that such change is not easily done without years of slow, gradual shifting. We don't have the time for that right now because in just a couple years we're going to be hit by the full force of Peak Oil. (We're already feeling some of the effects now with American oil companies losing their grip on their aritificially reduced gasoline prices.) Furthermore, people tend to not want to change their lifestyles all that much, and in order to change these lifestyles we'd need certain new technologies and power sources, which, again, we do not have time to develop.
Hence the stop-gap measure of nuclear fission energy, which is the closest we've got to the sheer energy contained in oil. And it's not as if the waste is as big a problem as it might be seen as: we are able to use significantly more out of each piece of uranium used in nuclear fission power, and we do have breeder reactors that can reuse spent rods and reduce the radiation to the point where the waste would be safely stored.
Of course, I wouldn't use nuclear power alone. We also need to make extensive use of coal, preferably in the manner of zero-emission coal power plants(and I would love it if they were combined with vertical farms so we kill two birds with one stone and use those CO2 emissions to aid with farming.)
...I should not have exposited so much on that...
Your suspicions are good! I'm impressed!
Lucky me. I'm usually not as good a judge of character, or at least I don't think I am.
