Speaking of Democrats...

Apparently, they just can't quite get on board with their own rules. Back in January, the Democrats promised that all earmarks, as well as those that request them would be made public in a document that would be available before debate on the bills began. Well not quite, as is shown (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070611/ap_on_go_co/congress_earmarks;_ylt=Ao0gPzW_rzGfhnVVaDCaaDlp24cA) by the reluctance of the House Appropriations Committee chairman to adhere to the new rule.

When they assumed control of Congress in January, Democrats rewrote House rules to require that earmark requests — and the people who make them — be publicized in documents that accompany spending bills as they are being debated. But Obey earlier this month said such lists would not be available until the House had voted on the bills and readied them for a House-Senate committee for final negotiations.

Is this a little better than no publicity at all? Maybe, but a lot harder to influence your Representative after he's voted. Besides, it's still not what the party of 'ethical government' promised.

'Ethical government' is the biggest oxymoron in history after 'civil war'.

That's about as true a statement as has ever been made...

Were you really expecting a politician to actually act honestly? We all know that the rite of passage for a politician to begin his/her career is to take their honesty out into the woods and to shoot it. Then they shall be called "politician" by their fellow politicos after this critical final step.

Of course not, but after all the hoopla about being so 'ethical', I just wanted to kick at them again.

I'm not going to be shocked at their actions but comparatively speaking with what we got with the GOP this is nothing. I'll take being lied to a little than being lied to a lot any day.

Meh. Politicians don't live up to their promises. "Small Government" from republicans, for example.

It depends on the Congress, though. Newt's House did exactly what they promised and enacted the Contract with America. Unfortunately, just two years later, it didn't seem to matter anymore.

Ethical government includes no BJ's in the Oval Office too, right?

I forgot that cheating on your wife is ok for a Democrat...they are all liberal and open-minded after all ;)

Lying under oath is okay, as long as 'just sex'. Never mind that you are preventing someone else from getting their day in court.
