I think I hope there's a source other than the daily fail.
I also think it's my thread now :p

Horrible! It's an honored tradition dating back to WW1! Very, very sad.

Officials admitted they had no record of any complaints from the 5,400 women in the RAF.
So, what does NS general think of this?

Meh, big deal. If your kind wanted to be artists dropping bombs on people is probably not the best job choice anyway.
I'd like to know who is willing to fly a plane with Michelle Marsh on it myself
and I have to say this is fairly pointless, odds are it will be ignored anyway
Yeah, the only ones who seem to care are people who want to bitch and moan about the PC Brigade.

if anything its going to increase the amount of art what with pilots trying to look "bad ass" and such
though I'd much rather have some more original pictures myself, maybe some surrealism hell even neoclassical would look good
Is it just me, or is the body of a plane like, the perfect place to paint like a cock? Or a cigar? Or both?

...it is the daily mail, come to think of it can we have a newspaper source for this story?
but the last thing you want to show orphans when you blow up there home is a giant cock! think of the children! :p
edit: timewarps hate me
Maybe we could paint it like a carrot or a sausage. You know, as kind of a "HAHAHAAHAH YOU HAVE NO FOOD PITIFUL STARVED ONES AND NOW YOU HAVE NO HOME OR PARENTS! HAHAHAHAH!!! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!" to them.

If I were flying a plane over enemy territory, I'd want some camoflague.

I think the plane is phallic enough on it's own :p

Maybe you should fly your mother around in your Cockplane. And make sure to have some nice long rifles in there too.

The justification seems very... patronizing. I quote:
"If you have women flying aircraft and working on them as engineers then these kinds of pictures are inappropriate," he said.
Macho, sexist, and patronizing? Definitely. "We can't have these pictures because women work in the RAF" is what they are saying.
Bull. The question of whether or not the pictures are appropriate has nothing to do with whether or not women work on the planes or fly them.

I don't get it. If nobody has complained, what's the problem?

I don't see what the problem is. It's not as though a woman can't paint a topless man with bronze rippling muscles on her plane.
Maybe you should fly your mother around in your Cockplane. And make sure to have some nice long rifles in there too.
Maybe I should invite the NRA.

Nose Art has a long history in military aviation and by no means all is feminine in content. Naming aircraft is still done by some commercial airlines. Perhaps the best being the fondly-remembered PAA clippers. (PAA even used "clipper" as it's ATC designation.)
Seems to me that who ever is putting their life on the line flying the plane ought to be able to paint a small part of it however they like...

That was one of the fun parts in customizing my plane in this flight simulator game I played.
At any rate, I don't see what the big deal is. At the most maybe they can 'censor' or propose regulations, not ban the whole concept.
