Its GDP dwarfs that of all other nations, including China and its military might is unparalleled. It definitely remains the sole superpower.

China:7.83 million active, 98 million reserves, 43 million troops. $360 billion spent per annum. (2006)

India: 5.65 million active, 14.67 million reserves, 3.46 million troops. $440 billion spent per annum.

Both these countries do have populaces of a billion. America has around 200 million, so lets times all of Americas stuff (except amount spent) by 5

7 million active, 35,000 reserves, 10 million troops.

You barely touch China! But China is a dictatorship so. Meh.

US military is considered the most powerful and dominant because of its superior technological and projection power might. And last I checked, China was only spending 28 billion on its military while we were spending 500billion.

I picked Canada just because the US has already messed up at being the sole superpower. I'd rather pick Japan... or Iceland though. =P

The world should never have a sole superpower though. They get all arrogant and bossy and mess things up. Many regional powers would be better, I think... unless an arms race breaks out or something. Oh well.
