What the hell's up with the stupid crooked hat thing?

So starting last summer, I noticed my little cousin with OCD that he was wearing his hat tilted a bit to the side. Of course back then, I didn't notice many people doing this, just a small handful.

Anyway, a year later, I've noticed that all sorts of people have deemed it cool to wear their hats in this style. Therefore I've deemed it necessary to classify them as dipshits. This hat thing is stupid, and I hate everyone who wears their hats like this. Honest, I wish them all dead.

When I see one of these idiots, I like to say, "Hey, you're hat is crooked." The somewhat smart ones will go, "Oh, is this better?" and tilt it even more. However this one kid I talked to gave me the, "What? I've always worn my hat like this, (A total bullshit lie mind you) I'm too lazy to fix it." That's also a bullshit lie.

Enough ranting, the point is I'd like to know when this holocaustarific trend started, why it started, and why people are shallow minded enough to do it. That and I'd like to know your opinion on the matter.

Tilted hats have been around for decades and decades... and even centuries, I've seen 17th century paintings with tilted hats.

Where have you been, and what the hell are you talking about? It's a perfectly acceptable way to wear a hat. Damn, people, how can you be this oblivious?

I'm only refering to baseball caps...

You should write that in the OP, because hats != caps.

Ok. Well why do you have a problem with titling baseball caps?

Why?

I hate it because people have globbed on to it only because other people are doing it, and they're trying to act all cool like they don't notice or care that their hat isn't on strait.

It also looks really really stupid.

Bah! It's fine. I really don't give a flying rat's behind about how other people wear their hats. Heck, sometimes I'll tilt my hat to the side while driving to block the sun better.

ANd you can just look at the pillbox hats of the Ghurka (sp?) peoples to see that wearing tilted hats has been around for centuries.

Anyway, a year later, I've noticed that all sorts of people have deemed it cool to wear their hats in this style and my mom got scared and said "You're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air." I whistled for a cab and when it came near, the license plate said "Fresh" and it had dice in the mirror. If anything I could say that this cab was rare but I thought "Nah, forget it, Yo homes, to Bel-Air!" I pulled up to the house about seven or eight and I yelled to the cabby, "Yo homes, smell ya later!" I looked at my kingdom, I was finally there, to sit on my throne as the prince of Bel-Air.

Because someone had to do it.

Meh. Most people don't even wear hats where I live. Once I saw this American student here wearing a hat at night and inside. It was a stylish hat and he was obviously wearing it to look cool, so I go "why are you wearing a hat" and he pauses and was all "it's to keep my hair out of my eyes". And I was like  dude.

As an aside, this seems to be a cool way to wear a hat.

I am now probably going to try this.

If you're going to give anyone grief, give 'em grief over wearing a baseball cap - as there's nothing as awful as seeing a grown man in a baseball cap. People should be encouraged to wear proper hats, hats that actually suit the shape of their heads - not some cheap-ass mini-billboard pretending to be a hat.

i usually wear my hat with the peak pulled down over my eyes. it's a great deterrent to people trying talk to me in the street (although there's the inevitable few who are utterly irrepressible chatterboxes) and it also gives me an excuse for not noticing people i know while i'm walking through town - i tend to be in a complete daydream most of the time, but if i have my hat pulled down i've got an extra not-so-'weird' excuse.

but when i'm drunk i like to see everything and i'm much more magnanimous so i push the hat back up my forehead at a rakish angle and start to swagger a bit. just my way.
