Thankfully, this one wasn't really thought out well when it came out.

Hmm, I wonder how long it'll take before RealID dies as well under the onslaught of complaints?

Ah good. What with the dollar nearly reaching parity and all, we need all the incentives for tourism we can get. Good reaction to a stupid law.

Wait, USA people don't need passports to enter Mexico and Canada, but would need passports to enter their own country?

Oh, that's hilarious in its stupidity. Almost as stupid as them not having passports in the first place... *has had one as far back as he can remember, and so has everyone in his surroundings*

I was trying to explain that one to my adult class. They still don't quite understand it.

If it doesn't make sense, there's a buck in it for SOMEBODY.

This law doesn't make sense, so SOMEBODY (maybe W, maybe somebody else, I don't know who) is probably getting rich off it.

Anytime an extraordinarily stupid law is passed or a redundant government branch/department/agency/commission/whatever is created (e.g. the Department of Homeland Security - which SHOULD fall into the category of Department of Defense, since homeland security is part of defense), you can pretty well bet SOMEBODY, and possibly several somebodies, are making tons of money because of it.

Or else it's just the usual suspect: government greed, i.e. the Department of Homeland Security was created solely as an excuse to bilk the taxpayers out of MORE of their money.

They shouldn't merely suspend the Border Assport Law; they should get rid of it altogether. Same goes for the "Department of Homeland Security", and they should consolidate its functions into the Department of Defense and let us taxpayers keep some of our money for a change.

It's obviously another one of Bush's most excellent ideas that will ultimately help protect freedom and the values of Western civilization.

The passport law would not have done crap to terrorist. Most of them get in legally and then scheme and plot within.

Holy crap...last time I was in Canada, it was $1.20ish CAN to the USD. Now it's $1.06. I think that means the Canadian money I never spent is worth more USD now...

Already dying - look up NH and Montana, as well as other states, and their reaction to Real ID.
