I just realised recently (yes, I'm an idiot) that these two event always coincide. What bigger in your opinion?

Personally, I say Euro, because it's an actually sport, as opposed to crap like running or swimming.

Olympics is just a load of crap these days in my opinion.
To much emphasis on building new and better stadiums, having big firework displays etc then when the sport comes on - everybody just goes to the pub.

Id say Euro.

Depends on where you are, really... I can't imagine the European Cup would excite a lot of Canadians..

for me the Olympics mostly because it creates daytime TV that when I wake up I can watch women in small tight clothing...if it wasn't for that it would be the euro cup because its pretty much the same as the world cup only without Brazil:p

european championship is football isn't it? ugh. athletics is boring, but at least it isn't an overhyped overdramatised pissing contest.

Olympics are obviously "bigger" because you have almost every country in the world not just European countries...

Might have been better off trying to find out the preference/comparative amount of people who are bother between the World Cup and Olympics.

Personally, I say Euro, because it's an actually sport, as opposed to crap like running or swimming.

Tennis, baseball, soccer (football), basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, volleyball, badminton, rugby, softball, all that isn't sports, since being at the Olympics must mean they aren't sports

Seriously, Olympics is far bigger and far more watched worldwide.

EDIT: Oh, wait, I forgot this was a TPF thread. Carry on...

Which European Championships?

Wiki lists 27 on a disambiguation page for "European Championships"

Including one for athletics, is that the one you meant?

Yeah...I don't think there's any contest.

Sure, except most of those "sports" are as boring as batshit and nobody watches them.

Besides...one billion Chinese sure as hell aren't getting excited about Portugal vs Greece, now are they? :p

One billion Chinese have a dictatorship. What does that say about them? And they suck at football.

Sure, except most of those "sports" are as boring as batshit and nobody watches them.

One of those sports IS football, same as Euro '08, and then there are the other sports, baseball, basketball, etc.

Therefore by default, the Olympics is bigger.

But is it more important? Do people care about every "sport" played at the Olympics?

Why do we need two different threads for this? Do you not know how to make a poll with three choices?
