Favorite Australia State or Territory

So, people who have traveled Australia, what is your favorite state of territory? Personally I can't go past my own state, we have a nice smaller community as well as a city where everything is, plus having some of the larger untouched rainforest's in the world etc.
Boogaloo. Nothing beats it except for its electric cousin.

The Australian Antarctic Territory of course.
A real life political fantasy!
Something in the order Malvinas Argentinas, or the maps of China made by the PRC.

We have everything, we have Sydney!
Plus, I live there, that puts the icing on the cake.

Clearly Melbourne is superior... we have EVERYTHING that any other state has, but better... oh, and we also have the arrogant nature to match. :p
Pity it's all going to go downhill if we have a recession, we're all too used to fabulous growth.

Western Australia.
Besides having the best climate, it's also the farthest away from Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.

I'm from Qld, but I chose NSW. Why I'm not exactly sure. Just seems like the most progressive. Not sure what I base that on though, and I'm probably wrong.

One proble with this thread: It's biased. Where not all austalians (most, including myself, are not) and theres only six to choose from. Can't it just be "favourite state".
What about Christmas Island, Jarvis Bay, Norfolk Island and the other territories?
My preference is Western Australia. Good weather, lots of beaches, not to many people but not empty and there is plenty of employment at good wages.
I'm tempted to say WA as a matter of pride, but actually, I think I like Victoria more.

Well obviously I still remain sceptical about the very existence of Australia. Given that I will have to go with Tasmania as apparently an ancestor of mine was sentenced to 21 years transportation to Tasmania for stealing a hat. Hat stealing seems to have been frowned upon at the time.

lol. Weighing up the pros and cons of staying in England or being transported to Australia (even as a criminal), it might have been a good decision. I assume he was freed at some point?

I would vote either Vic (home loyalties) or SA (Adelaide seems like a very comfortable place and houses some nice wineries in the Barossa valley)

Tasmania is ok (chocolate!) but your capital is too damn cold.

New Zealand
lol; indeed, had it not been for King Dick Seddon, we would be discussing our favourite Australasian State or Territory.
Well, in terms of actual states, the only one I have visited is Qland, and anyways, we have their junk on our railways - we also have some Western Australian junk on our railways.

You still can join Australia as a state.

Nope, I meant museum pieces - oops, I mean trains. We stole the Class 1500s and renamed them the DQ class, we stole SX Set 50 and it still manages to carry commuters, we stole pretty much all the ADKs and ADLs and they still manage to carry commuters; even though they stink and make loud noises.
Also, I think we have separated so staunchly that Anschluss is impossible - I don't think that many people could stand Advance Australia Fair, and the Maoris would be too scared that they will end up like the Abos; still badly treated.
Oh well, and to think none of this would have happened had Joe Chamberlain kept his mouth shut.

That doesn't seem nice at all, nor conducive to a modern state combining (as an equal union or as an unequal union) thus would lead to a disgruntled population, leading to secession or terrorist activity.

*Tries to wiki those train types but fails and realises they must be really old to be combustion*
Diesel engines? As I understand your g'ment seems to have failed twice to make it an electrified system. What do the metro people want in a public transport system?
I can't stand advance Australia fair. So boring.
Part of the problem with Aboriginal care is that it becomes too political in nature to the extent where they try to ignore it. Maori related systems seem to be going well (are they?) and as a statoid you would have control to keep those systems running.

Yep, it is always a bad omen for Labour Governments; they lose every election after they announce Auckland Rail Electrification, and they are set to lose in '08 - usually the project disappears as well (in 1949, Labour lost and after the Master Transportation Plan came out in 1955, the National Government dropped the rail plan; in 1960, Labour lost and the De Leuw Cather Report meant that roading was back on the agenda; in 1975, Labour lost and Muldoon spent money on dams, methanol plants and the Main Trunk Line instead). The Aucklanders want it done, however, the Auckland Regional Council does not have the money, and there is a rates revolt everytime some form of tax increases - the proposed way of funding the project has come in for some very heavy criticism - it has been a month since the budget, and the Herald still carries at least one letter a day on the topic.
The Maori related systems are going alright; although there have been a few issues in recent years. The people are not that heavily opposed to them as they were in 2004. Still, as a statoid, don't we have to fun much of the minor stuff, transportation and so on with a much smaller tax base? It would essentially be a glorified version of the Auckland Regional Council, and they do not have that much in terms of funds.
For anyone favouring union, there would be other problems. Capital Gains Tax would certainly cause a huge raising of eyebrows; wages would almost certainly be forced up, causing unemployment (due to unions merging together and changes in industrial law); inflation would probably rise, due to the sudden fall in interest rates (from 8% to 6.25%).
Also, what would be your preferred anthem? Waltzing Matilda?
DISCLAIMER: I am not at all in favour of Union with the unlucky country, I am merely pointing out things in an objective manner

The species itself is under partial threat (estimates on wiki are about 20k-80k members) because of a transmissable jaw cancer.
They seem a bit nasty to me (zoo based viewing).

NT IS BUILDING WMDs! Or at least you in cahoots with the NSW since you shouldn't have a reactor...

Not sure what you mean but Tasmania is supposed to have the highest area percentage of conservation areas. In terms of forest areas I would have to go with either NT, NSW or Qld.
Oh yeah, I choose Vic. Though not VB, bleh.
