The ever coveted.....

Six-pack abs. Thats right. Greek gods and heroes alike are sculpted in images of physical perfection. Their most dominating feature? The well defined range of abdominal muscles.

But I digress. Now too the point, that is, who here has quote on quote, "a six pack", or well defined abdominal muscles? How do you maintain such a feature? How long did it take too achieve these?

Personally, for the past 2 months I have been doing 550 crunches a night, along with some stretching. I can tell two of the larger muscles are defined, but the other simply wont reveal themselves. I have read that crunches are peripheral in the grand scheme of abdominal exercises if used alone. This is puzzling too me. Any thoughts?

Hey Aush, haven't seen you in a while.
My wife has a job where she's comp'd for doing something called "The Expressway", and it's pretty good at isolating *EVERYTHING* if you do it right.

Meh. My boyfriend has a cute soft little tummy, and I love it. I never liked snuggling with skinny or muscular people, they're not soft enough. Give me a nice layer of fat anyday :D

My boy's skinny, but with no actual define six-pack... his arms are freaking nice, though. And I'll take nice shoulders/arms over a six pack any day!

I have that disgusting pooch below my belly button......it's gotten worse after 3 abdominal surgeries.

the part above my belly button is quite nice though ;)

hubby has a slightly rounded belly....but it's mostly because of the meds he is on, when he is not on them he has a faint 6 pack.

six packs are for bodybuilders or fragile douchebags, women hate them and men will think your some freak from a 90's boy band (stick with a firm flat tum everyone is happy especially your abs)

don't make me hate you! (http://www.hotchickswithdouchebags.com/)

hey! every girl i've been with loved my 6-pack. It's kinda fading now, though. Baseball season isn't very good to the abs. Do some leg lifts. Works the best in my experience. lifting your legs from 6" off the ground to 90 degrees works well too. Just lay down with your feet a little off the ground, and move 'em around a bit until it hurts too much. at peak, i couldn't do any set for more than two minutes. leg lifts work the abs that crunches don't.

Hah, not even close. Though I think I have abdominal muscles somewhere, if I contract them while poking at the excess tallow, I can even make out some kind of shape. :p

Im still a little confused. It seemes a proportionate number of people find six pack abs attractive, while an equal number of others dont.

I don't have perfect abs anymore because I no longer do any aerobic exercises other than walking. I still have a bit of abs just because I am thin. Try that; just be thin.

Exercising gets you no where but sore and sweaty. I say get up and the let chips, or belly as it were, lay as it may.

Ruffy, we still love you.

As for me, no, alas, I am not the perfectly sculpted Lost Greek God of Body Cologne with the chiseled six-pack of Iron Glory. I've got the tone of a guy that seriously enjoys beating people up. Martial Artist by obsession, and blog artist by compulsion. I worry, but not too much. After all, it's the pecs that matter. They're the ones attached to one's arms. And hence, the important muscles for doing muscle-y things, like lifting stuff or puching crap. Where's the thread on Pectoral Definition?

Im sure its coming. The abdominal region, when well defined, can withstand great force, without causing air too rush out of your lungs, real useful in those "fights" of yours. The stomach is the most likely target between fighters, as it is typically the largest, weakest area on the body. I have found myself, that with my nightly training regiment, I can take quite the punishment on my mid section, though it doesnt appear too chisled....maybe it just takes take.....you'd think 520 crunches a night and stretching would be enough but jeez.....

I assume he means the Zelda species.

And 6-pack abs are overated. For staarters, a Dragon with average strength (such as me) would have no problem beating an equal-sized human musclehead (such as Ahnuld) in arm wrestling.

I love how out of 54 people so far, including myself, not a single one of us has the "perfect six pack".

It seems the Greeks and Romans were onto something.

Olympics anyone?

What's confusing about that?
My guess is, half have been reading men's magazines and wish they could look like that, whereas the other half either can't be bothered, or is female and therefore knows that six packs aren't attractive.

i'm male, and find both 'mens' and 'womens' magazenes unattractive, worthless, and downright tedius. the kind of 'zenes i do read include such things as analog sf, model railroader, and mother earth news.

(i used to read byte too, back before the kind of hardware we have now became affordable, but now i spend more time on actually ON the net, then concerning myself about theory)

(can't for the life of me comprehend what anyone sees in 'poople' or 'newspeak' either)

You need <10% body fat. You might have the abdominal muscles, they are just covered in flab. I have a 6 pack, though its not as defined as it was cause I havent been allowed to train in 7 months. Rowing is great for the upper body.
