OK, so that's what it looks like. It's shit, we all get that, so let's not waste time on that point.

There are, however, two things stemming from this today which have made me laugh. A lot.

1) It looks like Lisa Simpson giving someone head.

2) The BBC asked for submissions from readers/viewers of what they thought would be better.

One in particular stood out on the BBC website (before, sadly, being taken down):
http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n215/husey_x2/olympic.jpg

It was so good, it even made it onto TV:
http://www.londonist.com/attachments/Matt/goatselondon.jpg

And a video of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2W_gInR3gXs

Unfortunately, it seems like someone in the BBC has actually used the internet before, and therefore worked out the reference. They took it off the site and didn't show it at the end of Newsnight when they did the same art gallery thing.

Pity.

anyway, the second logo does look better than the first. Much better.

Edit: NOT that I am very fond of it, but it is better...

As opposed to the goatse one, which is more showing up just what a shithole London'll be during that time.

I actually don't mind the logo. I mean you've got to look at it from a relative perspective. Olympic logos always are characterless over-designed crap. And on that scale it isn't too bad.

It's the ruinous cost that's the sticking point with me, but even that has an upside, in that I half expected it to be much more. Certainly if this is the only extravagant and profligate waste of tax payers' money revealed on the Olympics then I'll be very surprised.
Vernasia
05-06-2007, 19:28
They should have held a national competition to design a logo.
That way, lots of money would have been saved, and we would have ended up with a much better design at the end of it.

I think some people can get fits from looking at still images. Wiki agrees with me:
"Photosensitive epilepsy is a form of epilepsy in which seizures are triggered by visual stimuli that form patterns in time or space, such as flashing lights, bold, regular patterns, or regular moving patterns."

So, that leaves that Tate Modern out...

I have a feeling the whole 2012 Olympics are going to be a complete embarassment and leave the UK with a huge loss. It will probably make the Millennium Dome seem like a good idea. For a start they are bankrupting a load of voluntary organisations because lottery money is being diverted into this shambles. They have a completely useless rupert like Seb Coe in charge. That looks more like Lisa Simpson's into some sub-dom action and is licking the foot of her master/mistress, who has it raised up on a pedestal as one would if one was having their shoe cleaned by a shoe-shine boy.
or bad bad girl as the case may be.

Blatantly no one actually read the article. The fits arose from an animation on the website, not the actual logo itself!
On the other hand, being Aberdonian, I find the concept of paying four hundred grand for a few bits of fuzzy felt is enough to send me into a palsy.

xxxAs far as I'm aware the logo is meant to be a moving image. However due to the complaints you can't find it anywhere anymore.

From what I saw on BBC news the full logo was what you saw plus every few seonds the logo would like it recieved an electric shock and change colours. Which from my understaning of epilepsy is enough to tigger a fit for some people - that is a short, but rapid and regular change of either colour movement or both.

And this is why every olympics should be held in the U.S. You people cannot design a decent logo. You had months to do it, a lot of funding...AND YOU CAME UP WITH THAT!
Yes, because America has never, ever, fucked anything up or come up with anything stupid before, has it? And coming up with a silly logo means we couldn't even dream of putting on a decent Olympic games, doesn't it?

This is what I, as self appointed representative of the United States of America have to say in response to your so called logo:

:sniper::mp5::gundge:
And a gun and gunge smilie. How original.

But none of those look like they were designed by a modern "art" artist they pulled on off the street who happened to be on lsd.

so? it's not something to blame on the entire world except america.

I don't expect people to try to impersonate me.
