Seeing as I can't find the poxy original thread....

It turns out that this wild hog had been wild for a grand total of 4 days.

His name was Fred.

It appears that the lad and his father were unaware that it was farm raised.

Do I smell lawsuit?

Probably not. The boy and his father were hunting on the land legally, with permission from the owner, as well as paying the owner to hunt there. As far as I can tell, they really can't be held accountable for killing it, as they were there to hunt hogs. It is even likely that the owners bought the pig as game for their land.

Anywho, this should hopefully shut up some of the people who said "We should have studied it!1111!!!" and such nonsense.

A .50 caliber pistol? Pretty sure those don't exist, and if they did, it wouldn't take a dozen shots to bring down an Apache helicopter let alone a pig.

Poor Fred.

Seeing as it was sold to a hunting preserve for use as a feral hog, by a farmer who hadn't been able to sell it for slaughter, no, not so poor Fred.

Well now I'm upset with the boy..

For what?

Do I smell lawsuit?

Why on earth?

Why? If the article is correct, the boy and his father had no knowledge that the hog was farm raised.

Nah, that was me (I just farted). :D

The article states that the farmer that raised the hog would have sold it for slaughter, but sold it to the Lost Creek Plantation days before it was killed. The hog wasn't owned by the farmer anymore (so he can't sue the Lost Creek Plantation for killing his pet), and he stated that the hog was too big, and needed killing.

True, I guess when you allow people to hunt on your land, which incidentally is farm land, you're bound to lose some livestocks.

.50 cal pistols and revolvers do exist. They're not .50 BMG though (there's .50 AE and .50 S&W, although I can't remember if there are any more).

He probably wasn't running (I'd imagine he was stalking, which is like a slow walk).

True, but imagine a 10 year old boy actually running through the woods, with a gun, it's still a funny image.

He was 11. But, I'd think that an 11 year old running through the woods (with a firearm or empty handed) could still be hilarious (there are many trip hazards in the woods). :D

Ther are several wildcat chamberings usually base on the ruger Blackhawks. Plus there was at least one prototype bolt action pistol cahmbering the .50 BMG. I don't know if it ever made it to production. I beleive it was classed as "destructive ordinance" when built.

.50 S&W (http://www.shootingtimes.com/handgun_reviews/monster_1103/)

This is an awesome weapon that is for sure. I still cannot believe the kid was using it. Not that he had a pistol but the fact it was a 50 cal.

To those sheltered children that can't believe a kid could carry let alone use a pistol or rifle. I say it is best to train kids how to use a gun properly when they are young. I don't know how many times I have taken adults out to shoot that do not properly know how to handle let alone fire a weapon. Many times I have had to take guns away from my friends and then do a quick rundown on basic gun safety. Now I ask before I hand someone a weapon if they are familiar with how to handle one.

There are several .50 revolver calibers.

None as big as .50 BMG, but they exist.

Google .500 Smith and Wesson, .50 Action Express, and so on.

I thought that they were originally jokes made by the Russian peasantry during the reign of the Soviet Union as opposed to having any one originator?

I could be wrong, of course.

And they weren't funny then, and now they are just old, tired and dumb.

Then again, only a fool expects originality from sheep.
