Why is it worse than ET for the atari?
unlike ET:
this game is NOT historically significant. at least ET and that crappy Pacman port caused the video game crash of 1982.
this is not a complete game. It says that you are racing against the cops and the competition to deliver your load on time. Here are what's wrong with that:
1. There are NO cops. Zero. Zip.
2. You have NO load to deliver.
3. Your opponent does NOT move. It stays in place.

Any way as for the worst game of all time. I'd say 99% of all games on the Atari 2600 are equally horrible.
Superman 64 or Carmageddon 54 have to rank right up there.

ET on the Atari is up there too, but the fact that all the cartridges were all recalled, buried like pirate treasure en masse in the middle of the dessert and then cemented over and steamrolled scores it some points in my book.

I don't think you can find the worst game of all time. You would have to play every single game, ever, and then objectively find the worst one.
Ideally, the worst game would be a cheap rip off, with shoddy controls, game breaking bugs, with annoying, repetitive, and just plain not fun gameplay.
And Batman Forever wasn't THAT bad. :)

I thought it was only no top speed when you reverse. IMS you could end up going faster than the speed of light.

YES!!!!! There was a patch released, but all that did was make your opponent move. Still highly unusual physics. Still has the road materialize 10 feet in front of you. You still win, even if your opponent beat you to the finish line. It's nothing more than the worst beta version released as a game. Good came from ET in the form of the NES. Nothing good came from Big Rigs, except maybe for being the inspiration for some hilarious awards and the hilariously awful "you're winner" message.

Maybe that's why your opponent never moves and you're able to do all sorts of other crazy crap...you're going so fast that relativity comes into effect.

Err...wait. What does causality have to do with time travel?
...or am I confusing myself? I would be far more worried about him disrupting what I perceive to be the present and potentially eliminating my existance. Though I suppose that depends on whether you subscribe to the theory that going back in time and changing what is the past from your perspective is possible or not...I see no reason why it wouldn't be.

Well using the best bet for time travel (string theory) it is currently possible to go back in time but not mess with causality (no eliminating your existance).
I find it a bit confusing as well. I personally prefer a universe with no time travel but I won't hold it against people who have a working model (though I'd prefer it not to be used if it were created).

Right, right, of course; I was a bit mixed up due to somehow thinking about time travel being used to eliminate causality entirely. I don't see how they could eliminate their own existance anyway. I'm a huge fan of Back to the Future but I always thought that plot element was, at best, ridiculous.

I thought travelling at 88 mph being enough to back in time (of course with a funky time doo-hicky) was pretty silly.

I thought travelling at 88 mph being enough to back in time (of course with a funky time doo-hicky) was pretty silly.
Well, let's check the facts. We know judging by the special effects that the time machine either opens a portal of some sort in front of it, or that flash of light is a sudden extreme burst of energy pushing it past the speed of light. Since the second is ridiculous, we'll go with the first.
One of my early ideas was that the 88 MPH bit was a safety feature programmed into the time machine by Doc to keep it from just activating at random, but obviously that isn't true given how much he kept harping on about 88 MPH in both the 1st and 3rd films.
So, it's possible that the time machine simply needs a large amount of momentum in order to activate whatever processes occur in the flux capacitor--it probably stores a burst of energy then...fluxes it?--and 88 MPH just happens to coincide with more or less that amount of momentum. It might not be exact...we have seen the time machine stay at 88 MPH for a few seconds before passing through time at least once, while at other times it goes immediately. This of course could simply be artistic effect...
...
Oh who am I kidding? The whole time vehicle thing of Doc's was ridiculous. :(
But Doc was a fun guy, as was Marty, and every other character.
And no we're not off topic...the Back to the Future games were absolutely horrid. :D

I used to be a huge member of the Versus debate. I'm used to this kind of inventive thinking. (And by versus debate, I meant Star Trek vs Star Wars. If you can't tell, I'm on the side of Trek.)
And you should take a look at some of the older ideas they had for the movie...if I remember correctly from the first draft of their script, the time machine was a refridgerator and used a laser or something similiar...and Doc was a Professor, with a chimpanzee instead of a dog.
Oh, and right up till the final draft Marty always used an atomic bomb test to return to the future. That proved too costly to film, though it might be more realistic than trying to catch a lightning bolt, especially since a lightning bolt is not exactly a standardized transmission of power...
Especially when said bolt didn't even burn Doc's hands...

Robert Zemeckis sure can write comedy, eh? I was suprised as hell when I rewatched it for the first time to find out that Judge what's-his-face was Christopher Lloyd. Took me a bit to figure it out because he kept hiding his face.
