I still don't understand why she doesn't realize her son joined voluntarily, knowing full well he could die.

As for her calling America Fascist... Well, I won't get into my thoughts on that.

Well she got used up by the anti-war movement. Time to move on I guess. This was to be expected. She should have thought the whole crusade through. She lost her son and now her husband and is broke. To be honest I can't say I am sorry for her other then her losing her son. She made her bed and now is facing the consequences.

Let's see here...her son died in an unjust war, our government is corrupt and authoritarian, and we're still IN that unjust war.

And your solution is..."Get over it"?

Its unjust IYO, and I doubt our government is Authoritarian. It may be Corrupt, but then I ask what government ISN'T corrupt.

That's no excuse to continue to allow government corruption.

I didn't say it was.

Fass, I thought I looked at the front page... If I missed it, then D'oh! Sorry.

Just because they're doing it wrong doesn't mean we can't do it right.

I agree, that also depends on your definition of 'corruption'

Sorry what? I wasn't paying attention.

The defacto hall monitor.

It's a lone, dirty job where you get to be mean to people... *fantasises*

... oh, I'm sorry, I forget my point.

If not unjust, then certainly illegal.

And authoritarian, probably. They are after all elected by a minority of only just a majority itself (american voting patterns and turnout being as they are)...

You know what I mean. She got a lot of attention when she started then just faded away. It's been a while since she got any cameras trained on her. 15 minutes of fame and then you're gone.

Then why should anyone bother giving you their thoughts on Cindy Sheehan?

No one who joined expected an actual war with 3000+ people dying. They just used it to pay for college or employment.

Try telling that to the foaming-at-the-mouth, flag-waving 'tards who want to "show their support for the troops" by ensuring as many of them come home in bodybags as possible.

That statement is about as much of an insult to those serving their country as Cindy Sheehan's actions. Sure, some may have tried to cheat the system thinking they could get away with a free education, but the vast majority of those who sign up are smart enough realize what they could be asked to do. (Please note, I suspect most *hope* they will never have to fight. I'm just saying that these brave people deserve more credit than you are giving them.)

I'm sorry, but having been in the military, I have to say something here.

If you go into the military with the blithe image of never having to go into a combat situation, you've seriously got something wrong with you.

Yes, sometimes years go by when the military has little to do. But, come on...it's made clear to you, right from the start, that you're joining the MILITARY. Not the "college fund for bored high school grads work experience program".

And, finally, let's just add that Cindy's son re-enlisted in the military with the full knowledge that his unit would be sent to Iraq. No matter what else you can claim, he went into it with his eyes wide open.

Yes, it sucks he died. Yes, at this point we shouldn't be over there anyway. But he CHOSE to be where he was. It's really easy to not re-enlist, people do it every day.

Hmm. I did not know she was still protesting. Have not heard her name mentioned in quite sometime. Alwell. Maybe this will be good for her. It is time for her to heal.
