dunno if this has been posted before... but... damn...

this is one where "think of the Children" would be appropriate.

Aww.. I was hoping this was going to be about a Nesquick like product that can be used to make strawberry milk.

God, do I ever miss strawberry milk.

But yes, that is horrifying.

However, while colored versions of methamphetamine that resemble candy are certainly available, whether the drug is actually being sold in flavored versions remains a subject of some dispute. (Police labs don't generally test drugs for flavoring ingredients, so at least some of the seizures of colored meth may have prompted statements about "flavored" meth that were based solely on the drug's colorful appearance.)
Yo, Ted, come over and try some of this meth to see if it tastes like strawberries.

i think that people should talk to their children about the dangers of illegal drugs, not let them hang out with druggies and not worry that their kids are going to be seduced by a cute drug name.

if your kid is inclined to try illegal drugs, the name isnt going to make it more likely; if he's not, the name isnt going to trick him into doing it.

I can buy already mixed strawberry milk and it's delicious. :D

But then I do like my milk products. Chocolate milk, strawberry milk, vanilla milk, banana milk (yes it's real and shut up I know it's a double entendre).. Everything except plain milk. I *hate* plain milk.

I would be inclined to agree... however...

They are clling this new form of meth "Strawberry Quick" and it looks like the "Pop Rocks" candy that sizzle in your mouth. In it's current form, it is dark pink in color and has a strawberry scent to it. so it looks like candy, Smells like candy, tastes like strawberries, and who knows if it has the same effect as Pop Rocks?

Duuuude.....I saw the banana milk powder shit in Wal-Mart....along with Bubble Gum and Cotton Candy flavoring for milk. That just seems...I dunno, a little TOO weird?

Have you tried soy products? They seem to lack that nastiness plain cow's milk seems to have.

This is such a new and early thing to be reported that chances are they're still miles off on how it's used or regarded within the meth 'community.' Right now it seems like that sort of Reefer Madness hysteria, jumping to the worst possible conclusion that the meth-heads haven't even thought of yet. It could be anything, maybe they use that method to hide their meth, or you know, just thought it'd be cool if it tasted good.

Or to sell it to kids. But I've never known tweakers to be that 'diabolical.' Not to say I'd trust them for a second, but that kind of operation just seems a little to forward and elaborate on their part.

I don't know, thankfully it's been a looooooooonnnnnnnnnggggggg time since I've had to spend very much time with tweakers, so maybe they've changed.

"Think of the children" indeed. The danger as I see it is that kids will find a stash of the stuff (parents for instance) and eat some of it because of the colour and artificial smell. To be honest, I don't think anyone would actually eat very much methamphetamine ... it's very bitter. All alkaloids are bitter.

Which brings me to the bit where I make fun of the warning announcement. "this is obviously an attempt to seduce children into drug use." It may in fact be, but I wouldn't say it was obvious. It could well be a raver thing, they're right into pretty colours and childlike stuff. I consider that self-delusion.

Have you tried soy products? They seem to lack that nastiness plain cow's milk seems to have.

Soy is just terrible. Nothing has improved on the common cow, for all the attempts. Also, soy forces your body to produce large amounts of estrogen and can basically turn male children "effeminate," if not outright homosexual. It's also not great for nutrition, if you notice the Japanese, who eat a lot of it. Soy is no joke. :(

They still make Strawberry Nesquik...my daughter likes it, though she prefers plain white milk.

Banana milk is good too, but I don't think I would buy bubblegum flavor for milk...that's just weird.

As for the meth...I agree that it probably ISN'T directly being made like that to market to children, but it certainly doesn't hurt the cause either.

I'm not against Marijauna, Mushrooom or minor drugs but heavy shit like Crack, Meth, Herion are deadly. Drugs like anything else should be used in moderation and not used to numb the shit out of ya.

ovaltine is full of sugar too, and has red dye#40 in it as well.

the milk mix-ins are full of sugar, true, but if it's the only way to get milk into them (or other appropriate calcium product) then it's fine in moderation.

My oldest has a very healthy diet, she is essentially underweight, so I let her have chocolate milk. If she was eating McCrappers every day, and other unhealthy things, then I would worry. She eats veggies, several different meats, quality carbs, etc. I don't keep cookies or cake or sweets in the house, so chocolate milk is her treat.

I have tried meth once, the only thing that happened to me from that experience was being pissed that I got meth instead of MDMA and realizing that I don't like it. I didn't become a hopeless addict, in fact that opposite occurred and I've tried to avoid getting anything laced with meth (hard to do because of their illegal nature, there is no regulatory body on what can be pressed into illicit pills).

under normal circumstances. yes.

but explain these quotes from the article.

Origins: This warning about sweetened and flavored forms of methamphetamines...

(It seems more likely that such factors, if present, are manufacturing erros, attempts at creating superficial "Brand" distictions, or simply ways of trying to combat the substance's bitter taste)

in Aprill 2007, U.S. Senators Feinstein and Grassley introduced legislation aimed at increasing the criminal penalties for anyone who markets or makes candy-flavored drugs...

which indicates that there are those out there attempting, if not succeeding, to at least, flavor the drug to either remove or mask the "bitter" taste.

Can you show any proof that any attempts at flavoring methamphetamines failed? or that they are not doing such things?

No I can't, but I would've thought commercial pharmaceutical manufacturers would already have attempted to disguise the disgusting taste of most tablets if it were at all possible. ;)

I suppose if you made an ecstasy tablet 90% sugar (for example) it wouldn't taste AS bad, even though it would be as big as a horse pill for an equivalent dose. What's especially confusing me about this though is this: Why market drugs to children in the first place? How's little 9 year old Johnny going to pay to feed his addiction anyway? I earnt $5 a week in pocket money when I was that age. I'd have to save up for a month to buy a gram of weed, let alone harder shit. I don't think children turning into seasoned burglars and muggers to raise cash is much of a possibility either...how many kids are remotely interested in the idea?

No I can't, but I would've thought commercial pharmaceutical manufacturers would already have attempted to disguise the disgusting taste of most tablets if it were at all possible. ;)usually they disguise the pills taste with a powder that is ment to make the pill "slide down the throat" easily. of course that powder itself is pretty tasteless and slightly on the bitter side.

but IF it were, you have kids and teens who will be willing to do anything to get their fix. and some people have no qualms letting minors commit crimes because they know that the justice system will tend to be more lenient on kids and minors.

payment doesn't have to be in cash. it can be in services.
