That's right, if we're going to start telling people they should obey obscure Old Testament laws, then dammit, we should tell them to obey all of them! We've already started with "God Hates Fags" but now we need to move on to "God Hates....Shrimps!" Yes, that's right, Shrimps is evil, disgusting, and an abomination unto the Lord!

One interesting thing I've noted about kashrut is that the foods banned are generally the more unhealthy ones. I mean just look at how often shellfish and shrimp get contaminated. Look how bad pork is for you. I mean pigs are probably the most disgusting 4 legged animal out there. Who the hell would want to eat an animal that absorbs its own sweat.

Besides, Phelps and most Christians throw out most of the Old Testament's rules.

I keep Kosher Style (meaning I keep Kashrut laws minus the extra set of dishes and eating only kosher prepared meat). The reason for this is more health related than religious, although religious tradition is probably one of the reasons I started doing it.

Christians believe that the comming of Christ created a new covenant, in which many of the specific restrictions were considered null and void.

Since jews don't believe in Christ, there is no new covenant from the jewish perspective, and as such the leviticus dietary rules are still in force....

Arguably, since God was specifically telling people not to eat shrimp, that might mean that he really loves the little beggars and can't stand to see them suffer and die just to be eaten. Notice that it doesn't say they are an abomination unto God; it says they are an abomination unto people, in the same way that, say, cannibalism is abominable. If God said it was abominable to eat people, that certainly wouldn't mean he hated us.

Anyway, the commands regarding clean and unclean meats were repealed under the new covenant (see Acts 10:9-16), so Christians don't really need to worry about them. On the other hand, homosexuality still seems to be regarded as a bad thing in the New Testament (Romans 1:26-32), so you should probably come up with an argument against this "God hates fags" nonsense that is relevant to Christians today. Try something along the lines of "Love your neighbor as yourself" (Mark 12:31) or "We're all sinners, so if God hates fags, he must hate all of us" (Romans 3:23).

Sounds fine to me. Of course it also says you can't eat anything with blood in it. But, now we're getting into Christian vs. Jewish...and, well what can I say? The Christians ripped-off the Jewish religion, and modified it, without paying any respect, let-alone royalties. :mad:

God doesn't "hate" anything except hate. Any being that does not require an event to make it, is beyond time (created time to boot), and is that powerful simply cannot be susceptable to hate, especially considering they'd be the only perfect thing in the universe.
You might have ghost of case attacking gay intercourse, but being gay itself? No just God would hate someone because of how they were born...only a Hitler God would be like that.

The old testament God can hardly be described as a nice and friendly fellow. I see no reason why he would not create homosexuals in the hope of seeing them tortured and suffering.

Pigs don't sweat. That's why they have to wallow in mud. Actually they'd prefer to wallow in streams or ponds, but that's not going to happen when they're confined to a pig farm. In many cases pig is really no worse for you than beef. New breeds of hog have been raised that are very lean. Anyway, fuck it. It's all protein and people are free to eat whatever tastes good to them. I happen to like bacon.

A religion with a silly rule? Colour me shocked and horrified.

Before refrigeration, modern sanitation, health inspections, "best before"-dates and such it was a good idea to stick to Kosher food even though Jesus said it's no longer required. Specially since there was no modern medicine to cure food poisoning and diseases, doctors didn't even wash their hands before an operation since they where going get messy anyway.

But today the health risks are minimal so even though those rules where good in the past they are no longer needed.

Umm... Asians? They get something along the lines of 90% of their protein from pork.

Most of these kosher and halal rules come from what was common sense, then some idiot made it a religious thing. For example, pork goes really bad in the desert/arid regions, which is where Judaism and Islam originated.
